Mourning Kaine began almost three years ago as Molassis. We then went on to play one gig in Barney Murphys and split up. Our rythm guitarist went on to form Kelsey Forbes. We all went our separate ways until a chance meeting on O'Connell street brought us back togeather again with a vengance!! Since then we have played Slattery's, the Da Club, and the Mean Fiddler. We have gone through a number of bass players in that time and only recently did we get a new one. The most recent edition to our band is Steph, who I recruited while working for the CIE musical soCIEty (very witty eh? Their idea, not mine). She took to the band quickly and as rapidly becoming as strange as we are! We have yet to acquire a bass player so if anyone is interested talk to me.
One of my favourite stories is the time we played the mean fiddler in Dublin. This was the biggest gig we had ever played. The venue itself was huge, and we were all nervous. From our half song sound check to our curtailed set, everything that could have went wrong did. I broke a string, Noels snareskin went, he dropped a stick. The sound was abismal and we played our worst set EVER. There was only one thing to do... get wasted!! The back stage debauchery would have made Keith Richard cower!!
