Hayden
Moving Careful
(Sonic Unyon)
Since we last saw Hayden, rumour has it the soft-spoken poster
boy from Toronto has conquered the world. To prove that he hasn't forgotten
his fellow Canadians (and because consumers have such short attention spans)
Hayden has released a special Only-In-Canada seven song EP. These seven
songs (well, actually eight, but shhh! - that's a secret) continue to show
Hayden's talent for chronicling the moments of modern life. How can I resist
Hayden when his songs about haircuts, estranged lovers and noisy neighbours,
seem drawn for my own diary? I have to like Hayden. He writes songs that
I cannot but relate to. That's as simple as the relationship between artist,
audience, and critic gets. Sure not much has changed, the sound is getting
a little fuller, there's now a drum and bass to compliment Hayden's throaty
vocals. Maybe some will be disappointed that there's no real surprises
here. I dunno - as long as Hayden continues to strike all the right inner
chords, you won't hear me complain.
