You must be very careful in choosing a puppy. Places such as Puppy Farms and Pet shops are not your best choice. Most of these puppy are over bread or even inbread. This makes a dog unpredictable and sometimes very nasty.

Anyway, when you pick a pup. It's best to go to a well know breeder. Ask them questions about the dogs background, relatives. If possible, try to meet the parents of the puppy. Look at they way the pups parents act towards people and children (if you have any). If you can't meet the parents. See how the puppy acts. If it's very hyper, take into consideration that this might not be the dog for you. That is, it might be hard to handle or you might not be able to keep up with it. Then again, if the puppy's very passive and lazy. This might not be a good sign. It all depends on the breed and you. Certain breeds act different. Before you go looking for a puppy. Read up on different breeds. See which one's best for you. I mean it's not good to have a Husky when you live in apartment with no backyard.'S' If you have small kids, make sure the dog breed is kid friendly. Remember, a dog is a long time companian. The dog you choose could be with you for 10-20 years. Anyway, before you get a puppy. You also should make sure you have time for it. They need to be trained, unless you want them to potty on your floor. They also need lots of attention. They can act like infants. They might cry at night. They might also want to be held. It's a big challenge. It also can be quite costly. They need to have shots. Which are very important. Each vet visit for my pup was at least $100.00. Also she got very sick when I got her, which happens with many pups. So that equals more vet bills. You also should get your dog fixed at about 6 months. Which cost can vary from weight. Also a little more expensive for a female. Don't forget the flee treatment and heartworm pills. Anyway, there are lots to think about before buying a puppy. So, choose carefully. Also if you don't want one. Don't get one. My puppy I had gotten recently only 6 weeks old was found in the garbage. That is very sick. So, everyone has to prevent these things from happening. My puppy is the most loving gentle dog you can ask for and that was going to be thrown out with the trash. So please make sure you want a puppy before you get one.
