A very Hanson 1998 !!!!
Well, what a year it's been. 2 new albums, a tour and lots more. So I decided to recap the memories of a year that was Hanson.
January:
** Zac tells and interviewer he is learning to play the bass guitar!
** Hanson are at home in the USA doing promotional work.
February:
** Hanson release their fourth single from the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE album entitled Weird. The video clip in a subway is one of their best directed by Gus Van Sant (the director of "Good Will Hunting")
** Finishing touches are done on a new album to be released in May.
** Hanson attend The Grammy Awards where they are nominated for 3 awards
March:
** Hanson are hard at work rehearsing for their upcoming tour.
** Hanson guest star in the new video for Beatles member Ringo Starr.
** Hanson found themselves with an unusual fan in the form of old heavy metal rocker Ozzy Osboune's daughter. At a City of Hope charity auction for cancer research she and her father bid $16 000 for a chance to spend time backstage with Hanson. The prie included "socialising, a concert and a backstage pass."
** Taylor turns an awesome 15 on March 14! 1 year t sweet 16 hehehe (do guys have that?)
April:
** Hanson make a new video for the song River that comes off their soon-to-be-released album of older Hanson songs. The video is a send-up of Titanic featuring Gloria Stuart who played the old Rose in the film. It was directed by Weird Al Yakovic who used released songs in the 1980's sending up Michael Jackson (Eat it and Fat) and Madonna (Like a Surgeon)
** Hanson take part in an Online Auction held by the T.J. Martell Foundation. The prie up for bids is the chance to be Hanson's broadie for the day.
May:
** May 6 ... HANSON DAY!!!!
** Hanson release a new album of older songs called 3 Car Garage. It includes the first ever version of MMMBop.
** Hanson chill out at home while they get ready for their big concert onslaught through Europe and the USA. A bit of downtime to muck around and relax.
June:
**Hanson announce a concert tour called the 'Albertane Tour'. It was their first full-length, 90-minute concert tour since their rise to fame.
** Thinking of You, the fifth single from Middle of Nowhere, is released in Australia and other country's.
July:
** Hanson's 'Albertane Tour' continues.
** Due to their live popularity, they soon announce more shows and also plans for a live album!
** Hanson have thrilled audiences with a special section of the show where the guy play acoustic guitar and create a more quiet and intimate atmosphere between their fans and themselves. The only problem has been screams drowning out the music.
August:
** Hanson's 'Albertane Tour' continues across the USA.
September:
** Hanson perform across he States from New York to Texas.
** On September 24, they perform in their hometown Tulsa to a loud excited crowd.
October:
** At the MTV Awards, Hanson present Natalie Imbruglia with the Best New Artist award which they won the year before.
** Zac prepares for getting braces, just like the ones worn by brother Ike.
** The finishing touches are put on Hanson's live video and album.
** Zac's birthday on the 22nd is celebrated in a grand family fasion.
November:
** Hanson release their live album Live from Albertane on November 3 and the accompanying video Road to Albertane (November 10 - December 7 in Australia)
** The video is a tour movie and contains footage from various shows because the guys wanted to give the fans a sense of what their life was like on tour. There are 15 songs on the live tape.
** The album's 12 tracks were recorded entirely at the Seattle show including two new songs More Than Anything and Ever Lonely.
** The Boys appear on 'The Late Show with David Letterman'. George Michael is the other guest the night they are on.
** Can you believe it? Isaac Hanson turned 18 on November 17!
December:
** Hanson take some time off, after much time talking about their live album.
** Their personal appearances for the last month of the year include The Billboard Awards in Las Vegas on December 7 and 'The Tonight Show' with Jay Leno on December 8.
** Hanson have 3 tracks on the soundtrack to the new Michael Keaton movie 'Jack Frost'. The songs are Merry Christmas Baby, Good Lovin' and Gimme Some Lovin'.
** Hanson on Melrose Place? Strong rumours around that Hanson will be appearing in the Xmas episode of Melrose Place wich will screen on December 21 in the USA. That would make it sometime mid-1999 in Australia.
