About my camera

The digital Camera I just bought is a Kodak EasyShare DX6340. It is 3.1 mp's and it has a 4X optical zoom plus a 3.5X digital zoom. It has a max zoom of 14X. Once you start using the digital zoom the resolution really starts to get hurt. You have to mess around with it to get it more manual and less automatic. It can also take video's. I bought this camera because I basically wanted a point and shoot that has settings which you can mess around with. I've been looking at digital camera's for a while. At first I was focusing on camera's that were in the $200 range at Best Buy and Circuit City. I ended up getting this camera, as well as a Kingston 128 MB SD card, at NewEgg.com. I think I got a pretty good deal on it. I also bought some energizer Ni-MH batteries as well as a camera bag at BestBuy with gift cards. I'm using my Dad's RadioShack Ni-Cad/Ni-MH 13-hour battery charger to charge the batteries. Hopefully the batteries are compatible with the charger. The camera came with a Kodak CRV Lithium battery pack. It isn't rechargable so I bought the Energizer NI-MH batteries.

To take pics, most pics are ok with the auto setting. To take night shots there is a night mode on the camera. The night scene setting's auto shutter only holds it open for a half second. To get around this I used the landscape scene setting then adjusted the long time exposure to 2 seconds to get the pics you saw on the last page. I also tried a 4 second exposure but it took in a lot of the orange from the street lights. I took some twilight pics at 2 seconds and they absorbed a lot of blue. I think my next step will be to find a high quality photo editing program.
