Call me Rip!

E-mail me if you're interested in contributing to my Page.  Or join my BritRockFest list by hitting the YahooGroups button below and contribute to the growing forum.

Here you will find original photos, scans of programme pages, written accounts and reviews.  Maybe sounds and video when I finally find the need to transfer to a provider with more storage space.  Also listings of available recordings, official and unofficial.

Building this site is an ongoing process.  Due to time restrictions, it will never be definitive.  However, in time, I aim to offer a worthwhile resource for research into the subject matter.

All offers of help will be seriously considered.

The Isle of Wight Festival 2004 is on the horizon, bringing the prospect of increased interest in this historic event.  Of particular significance is the news that The Who are to appear.  One of the cornerstone groups of the 1970 festival is to return to the scene of their great triumph.  If I could be there, I would.  I am assembling links to help those who arrive here in their search for background information.

I hope you will return often and delve into the material laid out before you here.  Perhaps you might have something to contribute.  However small or apparently inconsequential, I promise you your involvement will be highly valued.

Rip G : January 2004

Listed below in alphabetical order are the Festivals for which I have sufficient verifiable information.

Note:  Some of the festivals have individual pages devoted to them; others simply consist of a list of bands.  But you will see immediately that the list is nowhere near complete.  This is why I continue to seek information.

Can you help?

Note 1:  The Archive is a companion - non-competitor - site run by a like-minded obsessive in Australia.  Because he has managed to find access to information which I still seek, and because his site differs in both look and content from mine, I have no hesitation in directing you there.  Also, whereas I have secured permission to reproduce the text and images from Chryssie and Henry Lytton Cobbold's books on the Knebworth pages, The Archive has permission to reproduce exclusive photographs supplied by Henry.  Both sites therefore act together as the definitive source for information on the Knebworth Festivals from 1974 to 1980.

Note 2:  Nothing appears on the British Seventies Rock Festival site until I have located a minimum of two reliable, cross-referencing sources. This site is not simply a reproduction of material I have found elsewhere on the Internet. I do have in my possession information from single sources which awaits verification. If you have specific queries or information about festivals or events which are not listed here, please contact me. We might be able to help each other.
