Scorpions - Concert Reviews
Krakow, Poland Show Review. Saturday 26th of August 2000:
Review by Kate
People, that was something simply INCREDIBLE!!! 800 000 people around... i guess Scorps have never played in front of such live audience.
It all started at 4pm [i was in Krakow since 5am] i mean the concerts [three other bands were playing] My friends [fresh met] and i had to stand firmly in order to keep the place [right almost in front of the stage] till Scorpions come at 10pm. So folks, belive me that i often had those thoughts to leave that place and see the concert from "far-away" but naaah... i didn't - that were stuopid thoughts... i'd never do something like that... Never ever ever in my h\life have i felt such incredible pain everywhere on my body, i couldn't even breath... but i was standing only holding [ if i may say so] my hand on barrier so that it didn't break my rib when the crowd pushed... GAWD.... how it hurt.. i'm still in horrible pain right now... But i stood there something like over 6 hours, watching myself not to faint [i wouldn't forgive myself to faint and miss concert] or lose too much hair. I hadn't slept for 3 nights and hadn't eaten for about 2 days, so it was rather hard to keep strength... HOWEVER.... all this pain is worth what i heard [not quite saw - for they pushed me off the stage quite several meters farther] From what i noticed they look live even BETTER than in the pics... and Matthias....... well ya know :)
But i just closed my eyes, got away from the barrier to keep my ribs and limbs safe and just let the crowd push hit or bend me anywhere... and enjoyed the music!!!!!!!!! That was a blast.. i don't remember the sequence of the songs for i mostly focused on Klaus's voice but they played at the beginning "Loving you sunday morning", and always somewhere, we'll burn the sky, still loving you, holiday, made us to sing happy birthday :-), played dynamite, bad boys running wild, coast to coast, big city nights, he's a woman, she's a man, some Matthias' and James' solos... [damn!!!!! THAT WAS SOMETHING!!!] and at the end when the audience didn't let them leave : rock you like a hurricane, wind of change and when the smoke is going down.... [both with people's lighters up] and also a polish folk song they had learned :-) i hope i didn't forget any song, if i did - i'll correct myself ;-) I've just gotten back home, so you must excuse me...
And i'm still under this spell... ;-) a friend of mine was stronger - he kept himeself in FIRST ROW, moreover, he kept my photocamera, and made many many many pics :-) and he also caught the drumstick =) which was kissed and then thrown by Klaus... So ladies and gentlemen ... and Marcus i think now finally i'm rightful memeber of the zoo family, aren't i ? :-)
Why the hell nobody told me it was going to be THAT BLAST??!!!! but damn, i knew they will rock like hurricane... still overwhelmed by this so special event in my life... i don't think i'm gonna wake up from this dream so soon...
Love
Kate, the dreaming one.
Another Krakow, Poland Show Review. Saturday 26th of August 2000:
Review by Andras
Yesterday I've been to Poland, Krakow to see our guys live.
It was a free open-air festival sponsored by radio station RMF FM. I only
went to see the Scorps so I do not know who else performed during the day.
Here is the setlist, not particularly in order :
Loving You Sunday Morning
Bad Boys Running Wild
We'll Burn The Sky
Tease Me Please Me
Coast To Coast
Always Somewhere
Holiday
He's A Woman She's a Man
Dynamite (Moment Of Glory version, but without orchestra)
James' solo
The Zoo
You And I
Traditional Polish folk song
Happy Birthday along with audience
Matthias' solo
Big City Nights (Moment Of Glory version, but without orchestra)
Still Loving You (Short version)
Wind Of Change
Hurricane 2000 (Moment Of Glory version, but without orchestra)
When The Smoke Is Going Down
I was happy that I would see and hear I2I songs, but they played none. We'll
Burn The Sky and He's A Woman She's a Man were fantastic! I've only heard
them "mixed" together on gigs before, not played separately. It
was funny to sing the riff of The Zoo along with (and without) Klaus also.
Klaus said that there were more than 500 000 people, I hardly believed it.
I liked his careing about the audience, because he said "Don't push too
hard, we don't want anybody to get hurt".
I've last seen them live 4 years ago, so it was tremendous last night and
I think none of us can get enough....
P.S.: in the meantime I checked my E-mails and read Kate's review. I felt
the same way (exactly 14 years + 1 day ago) when I've first seen them live!
later
Andras.
