Concrete And Steel

In the center of the wishing well lays my patchwork heart
Old , worn out and torn apart
I left it there for you to see while you were wishing to be free
Angels can only fly if you give them wings
I took a walk last night looking for a piece of light
Left over from your eyes that use to shine
But the blue had turned to gray and it doesn't matter anyway
Love wasn't made to last as long as the diamonds in this ring

Tear down your fences of concrete and steel
What turns the wheels in your head and what can I do to make you feel again
The ghost in the closet has broken down the door
And I can't turn back time
Or yesterday would be today
And you would still be mine

In this shallow grave of lies destined to be found out I lay inside
Truth comes too late sometimes
But innocense makes no excuse for the ones that only seem to lose
The crying child has no one to dry his eyes

Sister Mercy

Sometimes when I look in the mirror
I don't like what I see
The anger and the hurt in the face of fear
Did the world outside, the world that is me
Make me this hopeless person that I never really wanted to be
And I, I reach out of the dust
I try to break the fall
But there's no one there to hold on to and I cry
I cry out for help
But there's no one to hear
Have I built these walls so tall that I can't see over

Sister Mercy can you hear me
You've got to help me end this pouring rain
The rain pours inside of me and drowns my soul
Sister Mercy be there for me

This chain around my neck bears your face and in your heart my conscience sleeps
The strength I need under lock and key
The days are wearing thin and the nights never end
I'm running through memories of things that I can't erase

Sister Mercy can you hear me
You've got to help me end this pouring rain
The rain pours inside of me and drowns my soul
Sister Mercy be there for me

Execution would be so sweet
And peace would be devine
But my mind keeps on passing me by
Like a thousand white horses lost in time

Letting You Go

There's dew on the roses
There's a sting in the air
I'm watching you from across the street
It's 2 am
I know what goes on behind your door and it's killing me
But I'm just a few more  hours away from letting you go

There's steam on the windows but the light still shines through
I know that you're not asleep
It's 4 am
Are you lying in my bed and drinking my wine
It's tearing me apart
But I'm just a few more hours away from letting you go

TIme heals all wounds I have heard them say
Whoever they are
But by morning I won't miss your touch and maybe losing you won't hurt so much
I'm just a few more hours away from letting you go

The frost lays like diamonds on the grass
Not one car is passing by
It's 6 am
I'm starting to feel like such a fool losing her sanity
But I'm just a few more hours away from letting you go

It's 8 am and it's time to go home
I can still feel your touch rattling my bones
This is one thing I know time will never take away
So go on and hold her as  I stand here in the snow
But there is one thing I want you to know
I can walk away but my heart will never let you go

Drivin In The Rain

You came to me seeking shelter from the raging storm in your heart
I was strong and I held you safely in my arms
The thunder rolled and the blinding rain in your eyes found passion in me
I didn't see that you were drowning me

It's like drivin in the rain
Holding the wheel but you still slide away
On a stormy night there ain't no slowin down
You're like the blinding wind of a hurricane
And loving you to me is like drivin in the rain

All the signs were there but I didn't see what lay ahead
My will was strong enough and I kept hanging on
The fire in your sky and the raging flood inside of you wanted to be freed
But the fire burned so bright that I couldn't see

It's like drivin in the rain
Holding the wheel but you still slide away
On a stormy night there ain't no slowin down
You're like the blinding wind of a hurricane
And loving you to me is like drivin in the rain

SInce  you came into my life
You've turned me upside down
And I have got to find a way to stand on solid ground

Stay Awhile

In an empty madhouse
My head reeling
I lay fallen
Close my eyes, take me back, and clear my mind
If I whisper your name to the wind will it fly you home
Into my arms
Into my heart
Back where you belong

Oh won't you stay awhile
Oh would you dance for me
Oh won't you stay awhile
Or just long enough to see me cry again

Her hands are cold
My arms are  warm waiting to hold you
Won't you take a chance on me tonight just one more time
Would it make a difference if  I told you I was wrong
Would you take me back on the promise that you'll never be alone

Oh won't you stay awhile
Oh would you dance for me
Oh won't you stay awhile
Or just long enough to see me cry again

Can I take a chance on losing you again
Is the mountain I have climbed to high  to start back at the end
