Heartache, Heartbreak, And Love: Brian's Point Of View

CHAPTER ONE: To Orlando And Beyond

By Jessica

"Hey guys, come here for a minute," Denise McLean hollared at us.

"Yeah?" I asked as we all gathered around the table.

"You need to be on the next flight to Orlando... seems someone has already won that Z 95.7 contest and are going to be on the plane today."

"No problem," we agreed.

"Yeah, just let me pack a little," Kevin said.
--
I was sitting on the plane next to Nick when I heard a familiar voice, "Hey, you'd be excited if you were meeting Nick Carter, too!"

"Taylor?" I asked surprised, but not loud enough to be heard.

Nick laughed loudly, how rude, "I wouldn't," he said grinning. Taylor, who had been standing, flopped back into her seat.

"Hey that was rude, you should go appologize," Howie said, tapping Nick on the shoulder.

"Yeah, c'mon," I said dragging Nick out of his chair. I wanted to see Taylor again anyway.

"So it is you two," I said grinning as we approached the two girls who were sitting opposite each other. "When we heard your names, we weren't sure if it was you or not." My grin widened, I was glad it was Taylor... and Taresa.

"Nice to meet you guys... again," Taylor said with a smiled. I half way ignored the fact that even though she had said "you guys" it had been directed at Nick.

"Yeah, and you're obviously thrilled to be seeing Nick again," AJ said with a laugh.

Taylor laughed, I loved hearing her laugh again. "Ok, I admit it, you got me."

I was a little disappointed by this, seeing that Nick wasn't interested in her.

"Can I sit here?" he asked Taresa. What an idiot! Taylor had just TOLD him she was mad about him and what was he doing now? Flirting with her best friend!

Tears filled Taylor's eyes and I tried to comfort her, "Taylor -" she stood up and ran off. Great, just my luck.

I stared coldly at Nick and Taresa - they didn't even notice she had left! Nick finally looked up and gave me a dumb founded look, "What?"

I shook my head, too upset to explain, then took off to see how Taylor was.

"Hey, where's Taylor?" I heard Taresa ask as I knocked on the door to the ladies' room.

"Yes?" Taylor slowly opened the door. Her eyes were red and her face tear stained, but she still looked beautiful. She tried to smile, but to no avail.

"Can I come in?" I asked causiously.

"Yeah," she said, hesitating, "But aren't you supposed to use the other one?" she asked, bursting into laughter and pointing across the aile. Joining her in laughter, I step inside. She closed the door and the laughter died down.

"You ok?" I asked concerned, whiping away a fresh tear that had fallen from her eyes.

She nodded her head, "Not at all," then laughed a rather depressing laugh.

I hugged her, "Nick can be a jerk sometimes... we all can. But the point is that he really is a good person."

She smiled, "Let's go back."

We reentered the room as Nick was yelling at Howie, "I'm sorry, but I can't like all of them Howard! I like Taresa, not Taylor, and you can't change that!" Uh-oh.

Taylor swallowed hard and began to tremble. "Hello Nickolas, Taresa," she said crisply, "Nice to see you too." Without another word she returned to her seat.

"Can I sit here?" I asked her causiously, motioning to the empty seat beside her. She nodded, still not speaking.

"I'm sorry Taylor, I -" Nick was cut off.

"For what, Nickolas?" he voice came out like acid. Glad I wasn't on the recieving end or it would've burned right through me.

"Taylor cut the crap," Taresa's annoyed voice interrupted my thoughts, "It's not his fault he doesn't like you!"

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" Taylor asked, bursting into tears. She stood up, very close to tears. I felt like punching someone... I couldn't stand seieng her like that. I would've too, had I thought it would make things better. Couldn't they all just get along?

"Please take your seat," I became aware of a tall flight attendant.

"Could I please have a seat elsewhere?" Taylor asked, still in tears.

"Of course, follow me."

"Hang on," I pulled her back into her chair. We were going to resolve this problem and have a great weekend. I was determined.

"Hold that thought," Taylor smiled weakly at the flight attendant.

"We're going to reslove this," I informed them, "Now. Nick, I think you should start."

"I'm sorry Taylor," Nick began, "I didn't mean to hurt you. I do like you... but only as a friend."

"It's ok," Taylor said sincerely this time, "I understand. It's just... I don't know. When I heard you say that -" she began to choke on her words, "It hurt... a lot, and... I guess, I just wigged out."

Now it was Taresa's turn, "Taylor when I said -"

"I know," Taylor smiled, "I know you wouldn't say something like that..."

I smiled, happy to see Taylor happy again. AJ approached causiously, "Is it safe to come over here? ...are we all friends again?"

We laughed, then looked to Taylor seriously for an answer, "Yeah... I think so."
