Heartache, Heartbreak, And Love: Brian's Point Of View

CHAPTER TWO: Other Plans

By Jessica

After collecting our bags Nick asked Taylor if she wanted to go clubbing. What an idiot, I swear! After telling a girl you don't like her, asking her out is the LAST thing you do.

Taylor, being smart, realized this, "No thanks, but why don't you bring Taresa? I think she can handle it... she had about three cokes before we left." I could tell she didn't find the idea too apealing, but she was attempting to make her friend happy since she obviously wasn't.

After a point, Taylor addressed Howie, "Howie, can I have a ride to the hotel? I don't see the cab." MY face fell. I didn't mean for it to, it just kinda did. I had been hoping she was going to ask me for a ride...

"Actually I was planning on getting a ride with Brian.

I thanked my lucky stars, knowing that he had actually been planning on getting a ride with Nick.

"Oh, ok, well..." Taylor hesitated. Did she not want I ride from me? Why wouldn't she? Unless she liked... Howie? "In that case, Brian, can I have a ride?"

Unsure whether or not she really wanted a ride from me, I gave her my best smile, "Sure." I grabbed one of her bags, then led the way to my BMW.

"So what do you guys have planned for tonight?" Taylor asked as we climbed in.

"I don't know... sleep?" I offered. Oh great suggestion, that's one she'll love. It was true though. I was quite tired, and Howie wasn't looking too good either.

"Hello, earth to Brian!" it was Taylor, had she just said something about movies?

"Huh? Oh, yeah, sure," I finally answered.

"How 'bout you Howie?"

"Actually I'm rather tired. I'll catch you later, 'k?" We pulled up infront of his house and he climbed out. He wasn't looking too good... I'd have to call later to check up on him.

I went to restart the engine when Taylor stopped me, "Hang on Brian," she climbed out to talk to Howie. Ten bucks said she didn't feel like watching videos anymore. She glanced back at me and I turned away; this girl was so complicated. One minute it seemed like... and the next it didn't.

I turned around just in time to see her hug Howie. They're just friends I told my self, trying to keep my cool. You hug your friends.

"Brian?" she asked climbing back in. I didn't answer, afraid my voice would decieve me. She tapped my kneww, which surprised me, "Brian, are you okay?"

I tried to smile, "I'm fine."

"C'mon Brian, you're obviously not. What's going on? Because if you don't want to -"

Great, now she thought I didn't like her. I interrupted, "No, I want to, but I... what do you think about Nick?" I couldn't believe I just said that.

She looked surprised, "I don't know... I try not to."

I nodded slowly, "Do you stil..." I couldn't get the words to come out.

"I don't know..." this wasn't what I had wanted to hear, "I really don't know, but what I do know is that I plan on having fun this weekend. With our without Nick." I understood. She was saying she wanted to be friends for now. It would have to do.
