As previously reported,
Frankenbok's
debut album "Greetings And Salutations" has been completed and is now for
sale at their gigs for $20 (along with T-shirts too!). However, it won't
see a commercial release until late January on Faultline Records through
Shock. Produced by DW Norton (Superheist, Automation) and
recorded at Rye's Back Beach studios, this disc is fucking killer! I got
my copy last night after their set at The Metro and it hasn't left my stereo
since I made it home! Expect a review on this site sometime soon.
The band will also be gigging
around the place so get out and see them when they play near you! After
the Melbourne shows in late January they'll return to Adelaide to play
again with Truth Corroded.
As I also said in the last update, The Wolves will be playing at the upcoming Melbourne Big Day Out show. They will be appearing on the Essential stage from 1pm to 1:40pm. This will be the first all ages show the guys have played since the Halloween Metalfest in October. So for all you youngens who never get to see The Wolves rip shit up on stage, here's your chance!!
The Wolves will be going into the studio from mid-Jan to late Feb to record their debut album for release on Dark Carnival Records. The disc will be recorded at Sing Sing Studios with help from their long time live engineer Greg Long.
Dezakrate will commence
recording in Feb 2000 (Feb) for the release of a single, with an album
to follow shortly after. Some early track titles include Your Call, Mr
A, Satan's Art, Score,
and Dream. Got an idea
for an album title? Email
the band with your suggestions.
Narcosis have just released their long awaited CD titled "The Life and Times of a Wanglin' Man". It's available for $22 including postage by writing to them at:
PO Box 4046
Wantirna Sth, VIC
3152
Seething are minus one now with drummer/vocalist Matt recently leaving the band due to personal obligations. There was no bitterness regarding the split, but the rest of the band are now seeking the services of a drummer and vocalist. Anyone interested should contact the band by phone (03)54 295372 or email everity@hotmail.com.
And lastly, from www.metalshop.com.au:
Now officially signed to
new label Dark Carnival, headed by Roadrunner Records MD Jon Satterley,
Australian Metal stayers Dreadnaught are preparing to release a
new album early in
2000. The album, tentatively
titled "Down To Zero," throws Dreadnaught's powerful style of hard-edged
rock and metal into the melting pot of heavy music. The band will abstain
from national touring until late January to finish the album's artwork
and to prepare for the launch of this internationally viable and genre-defining
release.
Meanwhile, while the band
were in Sydney last week having their album mastered at 301 by Don Bartley
and Andy Baldwin, their car was broken into. The band told us that the
"dumb
f*#kers" stole clothes
- including lead singer Greg's jock - but left the CD player and $100 bucks!
It's true, crime doesn't pay.

What a great month it's been for gigs! For those of you who missed all the madness of the last few weeks....
KICK YOURSELVES WHERE IT HURTS!!
....then be sure to check out the gig guide so you don't miss out on any more metal fun!
Frankenbok will be
releasing their debut album this week on Faultline Records thru Shock.
They will be launching it in Adelaide next Friday night, with the Melbourne
launch taking place on the 23rd at Goo (Metro).
Don't know much about Frankenbok?
Believe me, they kick serious butt. Check the articles
section and get out and see em live. You won't be disappointed.
The Wolves have secured a place on the Melbourne Big Day Out gig taking place at the Showgrounds on the 30th of January 2000. They have also been given the task of opening proceedings at Slipknot's Melbourne show in early February.
As most of you would already know, The Wolves have been signed to the new Dark Carnival Records label. Expect a release from them early next year along with new offerings from Dreadnaught and Segression (NSW) who are also on the label.
Also due for release is the live Blood Duster album rumoured to be titled, "No Sleep Till Northcote" (well, I'm hoping anyway!). Expect to see this release hit the shelves sometime very soon.
But the award for "most anticipated album of the year" (and "most frustrating wait for an album to be released"!) must go to the mighty Earth. Funnily enough, a SECOND album has also been recorded which should be out quite soon too. Those who saw Earth lay waste to audiences in Sydney and Canberra recently would have noticed the absence of bassist Dan. Due to a nasty accident at his workplace, Dan was unable to play for the two shows and the band were forced to pull out of an upcoming gig at the Greyhound this month. Our thoughts are with Dan and the rest of Earth for a quick recovery (and an album release soon please?!).
