The Ring

Directed by: Gore Verbinski (The Mexican, Mouse Hunt)

Stars: Naomi Watts ("Home and Away", Mulholland Drive)

Martin Henderson ("Home and Away", "Sweat")

Let me begin by saying that this movie was one scary film.  The part where the girl came out of the television was the scariest and I have to admit that I woke up twice in the middle of the night after I saw it.  Now I have to say that I was not expecting much from this movie but it was actually pretty good.  Although the premise of the movie about a mystery tape causing people to die after seven days of watching it was a little strange and unbelievable, the fact that  it was based on a Japanese movie makes it all okay because what else would you expect from a Japanese film.  I have never seen the Japanese version that this was based on, which is apparently better so I have nothing to compare it to but overall I enjoyed it.  The highlight of the film was when the film just finished and Emma rang Emma Mitchell's mobile and completely freaked her out for a second, ha, ha, ha, funny stuff.

The Little Vampire

Directed by: Uli Edel

Stars: Jonathan Lipnicki (Stuart Little, Like Mike, Jerry Maguire)

Rollo Weeks

This was such a cute little film and really quite good.  I must admit I have a soft spot for kids movies but this one was really good and my dad liked it too.  I laughed so much in the parts with the cows.  The kid who played the vampire Rudolph looked really cool as a vampire but when I saw him just normally I thought "wow, what an ugly little kid", he should have kept the vampire makeup on.

The Lord of the Rings, The Fellowship of the Ring - Extended version on DVD

Directed by: Peter Jackson (Heavenly Creatures, The Frighteners)

Stars: Elijah Wood (The Faculty, The good son, Deep Impact)

Ian McKellen (X-Men, Jack and Sarah)

I didn't think this movie could get any better but I was wrong.  The extended version is over 30 minutes longer and the new scenes are actually incorporated into the film rather that just being special features.  It is now funnier, there is more character development and there is more Legolas because who doesn't want more Legolas, he is the coolest character in the film.  There are so many special features on this DVD (over six hours) that it took me about three days to watch everything and there are still three commentary tracks that I haven't listened to.  The special features are really interesting and I am now so in love with all the people in the film.
