Iron Maiden was Maiden's first official full album. The legendary Soundhouse Tapes, made Iron Maiden's name apparent, but it was their self titled record that made Iron Maiden the leaders in the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal. It was unleashed on April 14, 1980. Line-up consisted of Paul Di'anno (vocals), Steve Harris (bass), Dave Murray (guitar), Dennis Stratton (guitar), Clive Burr (drums). Singles to spawn from Iron Maiden were to include, Sanctuary and Running Free. It was this tour that would see Iron Maiden open up for Judas Priest on their British Steel Tour, in the UK. Iron Maiden played their biggest show at the time at Reading Festival, in front of a crowd of 30,000 people, as special guests for U.F.O. Iron Maiden then got their first taste of a European Invasion, as special guests to KISS. Italy, France, Germany, Holland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, got to see Iron Maiden for the first time on that leg of the tour.
