EXHAUSTED pop hero Robbie Williams may be suffering from ME, it was revealed yesterday.

The devastating illness, once known as yuppie flu, leaves victims tired, unable to concentrate and with a permanent cold.

Shattered Robbie caused a shock when he failed to turn up at the UK premiere of James Bond movie The World Is Not Enough on Monday evening. He had promised to be at the lavish showbiz bash and is a selfconfessed Bond worshipper.

But the singer's trusted housekeeper sparked an ME alert when she said: "Robbie's physically exhausted and needs the time off. "He's sleeping all the time and just can't manage to get out of bed." ME - myalgic encephalo-myelitis - struck down the Duchess Of Kent three years ago.

Speaking about Robbie's health at his house in Notting Hill, west London, the housekeeper added: "Robbie would have loved to have gone but I just don't think he was up to it." A spokeswoman for Action for ME said: "It's a strong possibility these are the symptoms of ME. "They are exhaustion, a sore throat, swollen glands, muscle pains, headaches, an inability to concentrate, a bad memory and despite long sleeps the victim not feeling refreshed. I would advise him to see a doctor immediately."

The revelations came at the end of a turbulent few days for the former Take That star.

First, he pulled out of singing the national anthem at the England-Scotland Wembley showdown last Wednesday with just two days notice. Then he performed She's The One/It's Only Us on Top Of The Pops looking dozy and uninterested. And Finally, at The Apocalypse Tube special during the weekend, the 25-year-old three-time Brit award winner missed out on performing with Sir Paul McCartney - after falling asleep in his dressing room.

Last night, a spokeswoman for the singer insisted: "There's no problem with Robbie."
