Chapter 9

A little while later, after the kids were asleep, Jessi had an urge to go look in Isaac, Taylor, and Zac's room. She decided against it. It was getting late, and she had school tomorrow, so she began to drift off to sleep.

"Look at her," Isaac said an hour later. "Those four must have worn her out. She's sleeping so well, I'd hate to wake her up."

"I agree," Diana said. "I'm going to call her aunt and have her bring some clothes for Jessi." Taylor looked at the peaceful-sleeping Jessi and fell in love.

"I'll sleep here in case she wakes up," Taylor said.

Jessi was filled with fright. Steve had threatened to hurt her if they ever broke up, but she didn't think he'd go this far!

"I'm warning you, Jessi," Steve yelled. "Open this door or I'm coming in." Jessi stayed glued to the couch. She was NOT letting him in. Steve continued to pound and Jessi continued to ignore him. She had to be strong this time! Then all of a sudden everything was quiet. Jessi breathed a sigh of relief. He was going to leave her alone.

She heard a quiet click that instantly sent her alarm systems off. She walked into the kitchen, just in time to see Steve bust the kitchen door. Broken glass went everywhere. Jessi screamed and turned to run to her room, but Steve was too quick for her. He was able to grab her ankle and push her to the floor. Instantly, she started screaming and tried to get him away from her. He grabbed her swinging arms and pinned them above her head with one hand.

"I told you to let me in, Jessi," Steve said calmly, "but you wouldn't listen to me, would you?"

"Please, Steve, don't hurt me," Jessi pleaded.

"Hurt you? I'm not going to hurt you, Jessi" Steve said. "I'm just going to get something I've wanted for a long time," he finished as he started running his free hand down her shirt and unbuttoned one button.

"No!" Jessi screamed and in a desperate attempt, she shoved her knee between Steve's legs as hard as she could. He let go of her and was stunned. She quickly got up and ran to her room. She shut and locked her door, and sat on her bed shaking. A few minutes later, she heard the pounding on her bedroom door.

Then her door was busted in. Steve stalked in her room and roughly grabbed her off her bed.

"You little witch," he said as he smacked her across the face. She fell helplessly on her bed. "Now, I'm going to teach you a lesson," he said as his body covered hers.
