Jason currently resides in Los Angeles with his mother and brother, Robert. He recently graduated from Windward School, where he was vice president of the student council. He and four friends (Sam, Jacques, Alex, and Darren) have a band called Phantom Planet. Jason plays drums(Jason got his first drum set for his 10th birthday.) The band has an album out, on Geffen Records, called Phantom Planet is Missing. It's a great record. Their newest album, The Guest, will be released February 26th.

Jason's role as Max Fischer in Rushmore was his first. Jason was asked to audition after a chance meeting with the casting director at a party. He auditioned and out of 1,800 other people, writer and director Wes Anderson felt he was the strongest and best choice.
