– Where Mighty Ravens Fly (CD – Atlantida Productions – Lithuania). This
atmospheric act think the music like a medieval movie soundtrack. Coming
from the cold and eternal Lithuania, RAVENCLAW is a new answer for all
atmospheric experimental viking metal lovers, the album ´Where Mighty Ravens
Fly´ is a masterpiece of strange and deep climates that go to the crude by the
sweetness.
More
of their compositions are based in keyboards and classic arrangments influenced
by acts like MORTIIS and new BURZUM (the album include a beautiful and deep
cover for BURZUM´s "HERMODR A HELFERD"). Some songs are very
beautiful and intense like the the fabulous "A VIKING JOURNEY" and
"WELTENBRAND". Ambient & medieval music for eternal voyages...

REQUIEM – Requiem Aeternam Dona Eis (MCD – Self Produced
– Portugal). Deep, slow and dark
doom metal coming from the Iberic Peninsule, Portugal give to the world some
gothic doom legends like MOONSPELL and DESIRE, REQUIEM create sadness symphonies
for our obituaries, it is crude & intense real doom in the line of DESIRE
and MY DYING BRIDE. The sound production isn´t good but it that doesn't remove
the shine of the band´s sound proposal. We are very ansious to listen the first

WITH A VIEW
- First Year Departure (CD – My Kingdom Muusic – Italy). Another fabulous
release of the great italian label MY KINGDOM MUSIC. This is the best new
avantgarde band from the neo-gothic wave, simple insane, the band mix influences
of the 80th gothic rock (like Cure, Sixie & The B., The Mission) with some
new gothic metal acts (like KATATONIA) and of course a little of POP groove (in
the line of R.E.M.). Beautiful songs with intense sensations and various
feelings! The artwork of the album is very creative and curious,it is made with
dozens of pictures taken from "bele epoque", the lyrics of the band is
very dense and simple with few verses and symbolic/metaphoric intentions like
the marvelous: "Club Epoque", "End of Season", &
"Tiergarten". Some tracks
include passages with violins, trumpets & tambourines, given more

ROSSOMAHAAR – Quaerite Lux In Tenebris (CD – Xtreem
Music – Russia). This band is one of the most important black metal acts
coming from Russia and its first album “Imperium Tenebrum (1999) is now a cult
item for black metal fans. The band play
a kind of symphonic black metal based in inspired guitars and melodic grooves
created by keyboards & bass/guitars mid-tempos, some moments remember the
first albums of DIMMU BORGIR and MISTELTEIN. This second full-lenght is a great
job, the arrangments are soberb and the vocals insane, the sound production is
good creating perfect mix in songs like the marvelous “The Moon, The Sun, The
Stars”, emotional melodic black hymn! Unhappily the label XTREEM send us an
edited version of the CD contends only 4 complete musics what impeded us of

Prod. - Portugal). SACRED SIN was formed at '91. After a decade of extreme music, one of
Portugal's most popular metal acts, decided that it was time to make a

Lotus – Finland). Very furious debut full-lenght from this Finland nightmare,
brutal death metal inside!!!! Your bones and flesh will be crushed by this
agressive machine, put the best raging soles from the creep SLAYER´s “Reign
in Blood” mixed with DEICIDE riffs and SIX FEET UNDER cavernous vocals...yes
men, it is fucking great, putrid music only for real brutal death fanatics,
listen the tormented tracks “Dark Years of Carnage”, “Witness my
Madness” and the brutal holochaust coming from the sad purulent “Rotten,
Shattered, Burned and Spoiled” (with gore-grind inspiration) and try to sleep

SCEPTER – Fucking Metal Motherfuckers (CD –
Merciless Records – USA).The promotional pictures, the clothes, the hairs, the
logo and the black & white cover art of this great act are a signature of
its music! SCEPTER coming from Chicago but if I listen this album in the midle
of 80th I would think that this band borned in Germany or Sweden,
because SCEPTER is a genuine thrash death act with the similar feeling of icons
like SODOM, DESTRUCTION, EXUMER, KREATOR and CELTIC FROST from the best 80th
years... SCEPTER made a great job here, the perfect crude thrash death feeling
are rescued in this album, a powerfull colection of impressive tracks that
remember, sometimes, very much the CELTIC FROST groove because the John´s vocal
is very similar to the Tom Warrior´s crude attack, but SCEPTER isan´t a clone,
the band have personality and its music didn´t sound musty! This is a real
fucking metal made by impressive motherfucker metal lovers, listen “Hand of
Glory” , “The Victimless Crime” and the crazy “One for the Road”

SEPTIK – Inception of Decay (CD – Winterthorn
- USA) - "Inception of Decay" iss the first full-length album from
SEPTIK. It was released by Winterthorn to commemorate ten years from homonymous
Demo's release. In this record, we can hear a typical Death Metal, from early
90's, with some Thrash Metal influences. SEPTIK shows its capacity playing an
extreme music, reminding bands like INCANTATION, BOLT THROWER and MORBID ANGEL
(especially that last one). The band doesn't show something original, but this
is still a great album. We can highlight songs like "Dreams in The Witch
House", based on the history of H.P.Lovecraft, "Eyes of
Destruction" (Death/Thrash) and "Silent Symphony". Not forgetting
the “soft” song "In Extremis". In spite of the album being remastered, maybe that work could
have been a little better, because the sound is a little low. But this is still

- I must admit that when I first saw 7 th NEMESIS Promo CD on my computer desk,
I thought this shouldn't be a good CD. In a pile of CD's to review, this was the
last one. I was widely mistaken! This Promo contains three brutality songs,
"7th Banner" is a fucking war machine ready to run over your head.
"Omega Dei" is a very aggressive and funereal music... "Phoenix
Resurrectio" maintain the excellent quality in this Promo CD. This is
the pestilential line-up: Alex (Lead and Rhythm Guitars), Andrew (Drums), Mat
(Bass), Sargon (Vocals) and Xavier (Lead and Rhythm Guitars). This French
murderers have all the skills to turn a "cult" band. Brazil salutes
them! The world is ready to be impaled by "Violentia Imperatrix Mundi",

SIFT – Sift (MCD – Self-Produced – USA). Grunge
is not dead! Yes, SIFT is a type of last sigh of that musical movement that also
surrendered good bands and a lot of garbage... SIFT´s music is very influenced
by ALICE IN CHAINS, and some songs as RANDOM coulded very well to have been
composed by ALICE of the first albums, the guitar riffs and mid-tempos, the
vocals entonation and bass tuning are simple identical!!! SIFT´s isn´t a bad
band but these guys need to search their identity because this MCD just shows us

SUFFERING
DOWN
– Misanthropic and Nihilist Dharma (CD – Self Produced – Spain). One of
the best melodic black albums that I already listen!!! Suffering Down are a
spanish bans that invest in a kind of symphonic/epic black metal with classic
keyboards and guitar arrangments but they don´t forget the heavy principle of
metal, and the melodies of its music are mixed with a furious riffs & drums
work resulting in a dynamic balance between heavy attack and melody, very
pleasant of listening! More than 60 minutes of intense & deep feelings
with some superb symphonies: "The Kingdom of Forgotten", "
An Onyric Experience " & "The Virtue of Deceit". I would like
to talk that this album is more powerful and creative than all albums of DIMMU
BORGIR & CHILDREN OF BODOM (that is my opinion!), and this is not little
thing. This work is indispensable for the lovers of the symphonic black!

listen the agressive symphony of the armaggedom! The more putrid and intense demons from the more deep hole of hell

yes we are talking about the incredible SUMMON´s new masterpiece, the black
metal kings retturned with a fucking nightmare that creeepy our souls and kill
our brain, this album put SUMMON into the eternal hall of black metal´s ellite!
This decripit artefact are produced and mixed by the legendary James Murphy and
the result is simply killer, the best work of the SUMMON´s career. Listen

SOULLESS –
Agony’s Lament (CD – World Chaos Production - USA) - SOULLESS perspires
great motherfucking thrash way of life. “Agony’s Lament” is their
second full-length album, highly influenced by THE HAUNTED and cult band AT THE
GATES. The cover artwork is perfect painfully. It literally demonstrate what you
are going to listen in this masterpiece. Sometimes you can listen something like
ARCH ENEMY, DESTRUCTION and WITCHERY in their music. The first track, “Bleeding
Darkness” is very fast, thrashy all the time. Jim Lippucci’s throat is
incredible, he screams the whole time, very aggressive. Wayne and Jim
Corrick’s guitar are very sharp, with great riffs and solos. Dave’s bass and
Chris Dora’s drums complete this marvelous album. Listen to “Terror of
Twilight” to understand why Chris is a great drummer. All songs deserves
to be highlighted! Maybe SLAYER should listen to this before lauching their new

BOWELS / DISGORGE
– Grind Your Fucking Head (Split CD – Bizarre Leprous Production – Czech
Republic). This is the union of two monsters of the gringore in one split CD,
DISGORGE is the more purulent e sickness act aborted in Mexico, they are famous
by their crude cover pictures (including mutilated fetuses) and to play one of
the most agressive & heavy grind sound of latin america, the rotten guys put
5 decompositions in this release, including marvelous cover versions for
CANNIBAL CORPSE classic " Shredded Humans" and REGURGITATE´s "
Disgorging Foetus", the music of DISGORGE is deep, cavernous, dark and
crude. SQUASH BOWELS is another
great name of gore grind scene, their sound are very extreme but they talk about
funny themes in some lyrics with a lot of irony, they put 16 thracks in this
release and the prominences are the infected malevolent grind attacks:
"Blood Suply", WO-Man", "Pussy on Your Face",
"Call-Girls", "Human Barbecue" & "Pseudo

STAR OF ASH – Iter.Viator. (CD – Jester/The End Records
– Norway). Ambient, atmospheric, experimental, emotive and deep are some
adjectives to define the beautiful and creative music of STAR OF ASH, the band
is a solo project of Heidi S. Tveitan, named Ihriel in the atmospheric black
metal legend PECCATUM (she is wife of Ihsahn from legendary EMPEROR), her voice
is very introspective and dense, the climates of the album, based in
synthesizers, are very dark and creepy, creating real nightmare soundscapes like
in the heavy "Death Salute Atropos" and some sweet sadness symphonyes
like in the deep "The Nudity of Light". If you have interest in
inovative ambient music to voyage in cool days, this is your new masterpiece.

SUNTERRA – Lost Time (2002 CD – Wab/Napalm Records -
Austria) Lost
Time is basically a Doom/Gothic Metal album with excellent flute attendance,
but I think SUNTERRA did a great job. Each song in this masterpiece speaks for
itself. I can't highlight this or that song, every song deserves to be mentioned
in this review. SUNTERRA have already toured with "major" bands, like
THEATRE OF TRAGEDY and THE GATHERING, and they play music in the same level of
them. Friedl Schütz' guitar are very complex, he did great riffs and solos. I
think this is the best thing from SUNTERRA. Other members: Lilly Hruska, good
and beautiful female vocal, Carlos Krug, guttural male vocal and very nice flute
work, Edga Schön, sad keyboards, Chris Schön, bass and Mick Mayer, a fast
drummer. SUNTERRA songs have a lot of melody, heavy guitar influences. After
listening to this album, you catch yourself singing their songs. There's a
Falco’s cover, "Out of The Dark", very well adapted.
Excellent album. It's a injustice to mention a song name. Just listen to

SYMPHONIC CHAOS – Sterilizing The Unworthy (CD – Self
Produced – Australia). Another impressive band coming from the AC/DC land, but
doesn't make a mistake, Symphonic Chaos produces a complicated and technical
death metal full of experimentalism and dark climates that will ravish all the
ones that seek new things in the genre and are tired of the thousands clones
that exist in the scene. The mark of this studio project is the deep epic
climates created by the keyboards while the sound destruction fuck our ears, the
masterminds behind this act are Geoff Bailey (guitars, bass, keyboards, vox) and
James McDonald (drums, keyboards, vox) and the CD was record in their home
studio (the sound production is great!!!!). I invite all death metal´s labels
to contact that band because I am sure that it will be big in the world death
metal scenery, listen tracks like “Imbreeder” and “Blistered With Lies”

OF DECAY
– Saprophyt (CD – Cudgel Agency – Germany). Cudgel Agency already is one
of the most important extreme labels of the Europe, they released albums of some
great new brutal death metal promisses that coming from the old continent, Tears
of Decay is one of the best brutal grindeath acts of the Germany and this is
their debut full-lenght, a crude metal razor to cut our ears with fury and
destruction. It is pure sickness music, withou concessions, without melodies,
without mercy, it is grotesque, it is putrid, it is a broterhood of CANNIBAL
CORPSE, KRISIUN, INCANTATION, SUFFOCATION and NILE. Listen "Blind

THANATOS – Angelic Encounters (CD - Holland). I listen
another band called THANATOS in the past, it come from Portugal and play doom
metal...but this new THANATOS coming from Holland and play a furious kind of
brutal death metal influenced by great names like DISMEMBER, SIX FEET UNDER,
DEEDS OF FLESH and DEICIDE, the heavy and creepy atmosphere is present in all
tracks of this fucking work, 10 musics to penetrate our brain and rape our
souls!! Incredible work of the
drummer Aad Kloosterwaard, the great prominence of THANATOS´music, he play like
gods as IGOR CAVALERA and DAVE LOMBARDO, creating insane tribal rythms in great
tracks like “In Utter Darkness” & “Gods of War”, the production is
good and the cover art is beautiful too. Finally, an excellent album for brutal

THE ARMADA – The Scent Of Darkness (MCD – Self
–Produced – Germany). Power metal in the old tradition of eighties mixed
with melodic & prog metal touches, drinking in the cup of NWOBHM, THE ARMADA
music remember a lot of acts of the genre (BLITZKRIEG, IRON MAIDEN, ANVIL &
ANGEL WITCH) but one of the impressive aspects of its music is the epic feeling,
the musics have a deep epic climate reinforced by choirs and double vocals. The
guitars of Damir Uzunovic is great, it is very influenced by Malmsteen. Dirk
Schaffner is a good vocalist and his voice found the perfect instrumental to

THE DUSKFALL – Frailty (CD – Black Lotus - Sweden ) Another
fabulous release from the greek label BLACK LOTUS (one of the new european
strongers metal labels!), the CD coming with a luxuous slipcase including the
impression of the logo in luminous red color, the artwork is stronger and
interesting, it was created by Set<´h> the killer new vocalist of the
legendary black metal act THOU ART LORD. The band play a furious and technical
melodic death metal, influenced by some thrash metal elements mainly in the
vocal ones that are very similar to the KREATOR´s Mile Petrosa. This curious mix of melodic death and thrash
feelings helps to create THE DUSKFALL'S personality that still counts with one
of the more integrated and intense guitarists' couples of the current metal, the
masters of the six strings: Mikael Sandorf & Glenn Svensson. The album works
very well, all the music are powerful and full of feeling and inside them the
highlight are: " Agoraphobic ", " None"(speed &

THE
GATHERING
– Souvenirs (CD – The End Records – Germany). Definitively The Gathering
is not more a heavy metal´s band,
the music done now by the band and entitled " Trip Rock " doesn't have
anything that sends us to the structures of the heavy metal. Any heavy or
powerful guitar, anything that recollects the first works of the band... but
doesn't get scared, if you are a listener of open mind, more interested in the
feelings created by the music than in labels you need to listen this album. This
is one of the melancholicest and sensitive CDs that I listened in the last
times, the beautiful voice of Anneke Van Giersbergen sends us immediately to the
work of the legendaru Eskimo girl Björk, the instrumental part already sends us
to famous names of the indie rock as R.E.M, RADIOHEAD and MOGWAI. A group of
beautiful songs where I highlight " Broken Glass ", Monster "

THE
LAST WINTER
– Ira / Dust (MCDs – Self Produced – Italy). Now Italy is famous in the
metal for its bands of melodic
metal like VISION DIVINE and RHAPSODY, but the country also has good death metal
bands that is the case of "The Last Winter", the band play a furious
technical death with some melodic guitars and thrash vocals. The MCD
"Ira" just has two tracks (the insanes: "Crashing the
Avatar" & "D.I.E.") and "Dust " is only one demo
track CD, but is possible to notice the great power of fire of this band that
shortly should stand out in the European death scenery. We are anxious to hear

THE
OBSOLETE VIEW
– Hollowing/Aere Aeternus/Metanemfrost (CD
Compilation – The Rectrix – USA). This impressive compilation gather
3 radical industrial ambient acts, bands in the line of the legendary european
label COLD MEAT INDUSTRY. HOLLOWING create a minimal & creepy
industrial soundscape mixed with ritual feelings, it remember sometimes the
crazy true industrial masters from MENTAL DESTRUCTION, above all in the second
track entitled "Yadu`a" (very dark and deep). The second band of the
compilation AERE AETERNUS, is the best in my opinion, they are more ambiental
and subtle, their songs remember very much the ambient god LUSTMORD, but the
atmospheres is more dense like in the strange track "Useless, The Obsolete
View". The third presence are marked by METANEMFROST, the keyborads are
very listenable in this band, almost melodic sometimes, but the proposal is
minimalist and deep too, creating good industrial ambient attacks like
"Ancient Blood Scriptures". Good album for experimental ambient &

THE SPAWN OF SATAN /
BLOODSICK – (Split CD –
HellsHeadbangers – USA). YEAAAAHH, this is real crude thrash death attack in
the old style! Remember the gold phase of eighties, when SLAYER, POSSESSED,
METALLICA, ANTHRAX, EXCITER, EXODUS, KREATOR, DESTRUCTION, SODOM and CELTIC
FROST dominated the world, I love some of my best mettalic moments in that
years. The two bands of this split CD invest in a kind of music very inpired by
the true and fabulous thrash metal ! SPAWN OF SATAN are the more crudeness &
powerfull thrash combo from the new USA days, they play with fury,and
underground feeling, creating powerful musics like "The Code of The
Craft" & "The Everlasting Terror". BLOODSICK is very
influenced by SLAYER for the first classic "SHOW NO MERCY", but the
guys mix it with new death metal touches and nightmare passages. If you think

THINE – In Therapy (CD – Peaceville – UK).
Peaceville is the house of impressive acts coming from the pure metal european
undergroung, the main names of the label are in the genres doom & death
metal as MY DYING BRIDE, KATATONIA, ANATHEMA, AT THE GATES & AUTOPSY. THINE
is a stranger bet of the label, because the musical proposal of the band is a
kind of “indie rock” influenced by names as R.E.M, Stone Temple Pilots, with
a brit pop groove, if you like only metal stay away from this album, but if you
is an opened mind listener it is a good band, including power guitars and
interesting feelings. The art concept is great too, and the album have a curious
& creepy dark atmosphere (that remember sometimes the good days of ALICE IN
CHAINS) like in the track “Homewrecker Extraordinaire”. The only problem is
the vocal of Alan Grunt that in some moments sound annoying as the one of the

THOU ART LORD – DV8 (CD – Black Lotus – Greece). The greek black metal kings return from the
ashes!!! This is a gift for all real lovers of this fabulous greek project that
was releases its last album in 1995, the new album is simple fantastic, an
masterpiece of agressivity, fury and tormented & deep lyrics talking about
the ocult feelings of the real satanic cult: luxury, wisdom, eternity, pain and
power. Some songs are perfect, like the real impressive “Crowning the Winged
of skull (Enthroning the Dragon)” the new hymn for world black masses,
including a creepy refrain in latin and the majestic “Eyes Wide Shut and Lips
Wide Open” inspired by the Dyonisoan rites in the last Kubrick´s movie. The
strange and symbolic name DV8, meaning “DeViate” or “Devil Infinite”,
the artwork is marvelous and the ponit of don´t forget the music of THOU ART
LORD is unique. The two genious behind this project is Sakis (guitars from the
legendary ROTTING CHRIST) and THE MAGUS( Bass, the mastermind from NECROMANTIA),
and the crazy guys Seth (vocals) & Akis.K. (drums) . Please listen it now

– The Delirium Has just Began... (CD – Heavy Metal Rock – Brazil). For me
this is one of the best bands of all brazilian heavy metal history and the best
act borned in brazil in the last 5 years!!!! Forget SHAMAN, forget ANGRA, forget
SEPULTURA, forget KRISIUN, they are good band but none of them has the
originality, vivacity and creativity of wonderful TUATHA!!!! This is the third
album of the band, and present us with 6 great songs when we can listen more
evolution in the powerful melodic aspects, more metallic groove, flutes more
oniric and deep. The voice of genious Bruno Maia is very intense and well-aimed
here, the acoustic guitars contribute very much to create the marvelous folk

very impressed with this work, this CD is a labyrinth of surprises, good
surprises!! USER NE create a marvelous folk metal album, a mix of crudeness and
swetness, we can listen dozen kinds of atmospheres, coming from the death and
jumping to the progressive rock, inspirations of melodic death metal, european
& spanish folk songs and JETHRO TULL flutes. Beautiful, etheral, intense and
emotive, without doubts, USER NE is the more creative and personal metal project
coming from Spain now. We need more
bands with the intention of inovate the metal genre, because the metal scene are
infested by boring clones, millions of clones! All tracks of this work are
interesting, but I recommend the marvelous strange & unique “...And Ape
Ar” & “Naím, Yhazura, Derval...”, because they synthesize the beauty

When I see the cover artwork I think that is a crude death metal act but not,
VALIANCE is another good melodic power metal band coming from the Italian scene,
you can listen all the elements that compose this kind of music here: melodic
soles, clean operistic vocals, beautiful chorus, classic keyboards and power
metal guitar riffs, a great mix that produce a good album, with great songs like
the powerful “Immaterial” and the sweet&killer “Neverending Flame”,
the vocals of Carmine Gottardo are great, he really incorporate “the
persona” of the musics, the bad point in my opinion is some keyboards
arrangments, very, very boring; but if you love melodic metal buy this album

– Promo CD 2000 (Promo CD – Self Released - Singapore) - I admit this
is the first time I’m listening to a Death Metal band from Singapore. This
Promo CD contains five pieces of hell. The CD’s production isn’t the better
thing to mention in this record, but I still can find good reasons to like this
shit. They play something like a mixture of INCATATION/CRYPTOSY music.
VRYKOLAKAS line-up consists in three vocals, (sometimes sounding like Grind-Core
bands). Andi vocals always remembers SUFFOCATION, like in song “Dark
Descends”. VRIKOLAKAS music is very brutal, with very fast and strong
guitar/bass. But I think Zaninal could be faster in drums. Great band from

WILL ‘O’ WISP – Unseen (CD - 2002 Beyond Productions - Italy)
- Well, it's a hard mission to review thiss album. WILL 'O' WISP release, says:
"Our musical influences mainly originate from bands like Coroner, Voivod,
Cynic and Pink Floyd." Do you understand me why is difficult to review this
album? CYNIC (R.I.P.) was a great Death Metal band, with some jazz elements in
their music. Where's is the similarity from CYNIC and PINK FLOYD, even VOIVOD, a
Thrash Metal band? Talking about "Unseen" (good title), this is a
mixture of all fucking music styles that shouldn't be put together. But
something attract me in this album. Maybe it's WILL 'O' WISP originality,
something difficult to see nowadays. This album contains nine tracks, and these
songs changes their tempo all time, sometimes making you think it's another
track. If there was something that I didn't like in "Unseen", it was
the male vocals, seeming a drugged guy, sort of a
"gothic-way-of-sing". But who knows if they wanted to sound like that?
There's also a female vocal, however she sings very well. "Lost in Sands"
guitars sounds very thrashy and "Celestial Bride" intro sounds
like a Doom Metal song, but in song continuation, it’s pure Hard Rock.
Sometimes their music are atmospheric, sounding like PINK FLOYD. Guitar solos
are strange, but not awful.Bizarre,
extremely bizarre! This is how I can
define this band, however this is very good music! I approve. You must listen to

– Brazil). Woslom is a band that invest in a kind of traditional thrash metal

WITCHAMMER, MX and OVERDOSE. The proposal put WOSLOM in the list of new wave of
brazilian thrash metal that are rescuing old acts like the legendary ATTOMICA
and creating dozens of new brazilians thrash attacks! The MCD bring to us only 3
tracks but we can feel the poer of the band and the capacity to mix thrash with
melodic grooves. The best track of the MCD is "Last Breath", simple
crazy, including a insane sole! Open your head to the neo thrash attack!!

ZWANGSLAGE
– (MCD – The Rectrix – USA). Experimental grind core with insane ambient
moments, the vocals are very grunt and the guitars are very inspired by noise,
including strange effects. It sounds like and neogrind nightmare or like the
name of one track, it is a improbable "Necromantic Hallucinations".
The cover art is very strange too, a giant bird looks at for a vase full of
afraid human beings......?!? All these aspects transform the music of this band
