THOU ART LORD retturn is a kind of gift to old fans like me!!! But it is strange because the last album „Apollyon“ was released in 1995. What is the reason to the T.A.L reborn? Are you unhappy with your bands (Rotting Christ & Necromantia)?

THE MAGUS: WHEN WE DECIDED TO PUT THE BAND ON ICE SOME YEARS AGO IT WAS BECAUSE LACK OF TIME AND NO SERIOUS LABEL INTEREST. ABOUT A YEAR AGO ME AND SAKIS DECIDED TO BRING THE BAND BACK TO LIFE JUST FOR PERSONAL PLEASURE AND FOR THE SHAKE OF EXTREME MUSIC! THIS TIME WE FOUND A SERIOUS LABEL TO SUPPORT US!

The new album is more furious than the last ("Apollyon"), but the intense black feelings are intact, including the creative damned lyrics. How are your magic to continue furious and impure 8 years after?

HA! WE ARE ALL ABOVE 30 YEARS OLD MAN AND OUR SPIRIT AND WILL FOR EXTREME MUSIC IS THE SAME LIKE WHEN WE WERE 20! IT IS OUR EVERENDING COMMITMENT TO THE DARK FORCES! WE WANTED TO MAKE AN EXTREME AND AGGRESSIVE ALBUM UNITING ALL THE EXTREME METAL KINDS TOGETHER!

The sound production of DV8 is great, simple the best of the bands existence. Talk with us about the sound production, Is your studio experience the reason for this fantastic sound quality?

WE ARE PRETTY EXPERIENCED NOW AND WE KNOW EXACTLY WHAT WE WANT AND HOW TO ACHIEVE IT! WE WANTED A ROUGH, AGGRESSIVE, POWERFUL SOUND AND NOT THE POLISHED SHIT THAT EVERYBODY DOES NOWADAYS. WE DID IT! THE ATMOSPHERE IN THE STUDIO WAS PRETTY ENTERTAINING WITH A LOT OF OUR FRIENDS FROM OTHER BANDS PASSING BY TO SEE WHAT’S GOING ON! WE WERE RECORDING LATE NIGHT HOURS, SO IT WAS LIKE A HUGE DEVILISH PARTY!!

The artwork of the CD is beautiful and creative, talk to us about the concept behind it.

IT IS DONE BY THE GERMAN ARTIST TIMO WUERZ! MAGNIFICENT GUY! IT WAS MY IDEA! THE FAMAL DEMONESS RELEASING CHAOS,LIBERATION AND DEVIATION UPON THE WORLD! THE FEMALE PRINCIPLE IS THAT OF CREATION THEREFORE SHE CAN BREED EVERYTHING, GOOD OR BAD! THE CARNAL INSTICTS OF MAN LIBERATED WILL LEAD HIM INTO AN ERA OF CHAOS WHERE THE NEW SATANIC EMPIRE WILL EMERGE

We really love DV8, it is a kind of perfect black metal opus, with fury, creativity, melodic sense and crude atmospheres. We are curious about various aspects of the album, one of them is the name DV8, what is the meaning of it? We thing that is „DeVil INFINITE“ or „DeVil Forever“, DV is DEVIL and 8 is the simble of infinite...Are we right??

IT HAS TWO MEANINGS: ONE IS INDEED DEVIL-INFINITE.THE EVERLASTING FORCE OF SATAN. THE SECOND ONE IS THE WORD DEVIATE, WHICH MEANS OUT OF THE ORDINARY, NOT NORMAL,TWISTED. LIKE US! WE ARE NOT NORMAL EVERYDAY PEOPLE MAN!

Another great aspect of the album is the identity of all songs, they are unique... Each music has its personality and it sounds different from the other ones. Talk to us about the composition process of the band.

ME AND SAKIS WORKED OUR SONGS SEPARETELY AT HOME AND THEN WE PALYED IT TO EACH OTHER, AND ADDED AND EXCHANGED IDEAS. THE FINAL TOUCHES WERE ADDED TO THE STUDIO! AS I TOLD YOU BEFORE IS THE UNIFICATION OF ALL THE EXTREME METAL GENRES TOGETHER INTO ONE KILLER PACKAGE!

DV8 open with the voice of Anton Szandor Lavey prasing Satan and the booklet include „The sigil of Baphomet“, all of them are icons of the controversial CHURCH OF SATAN. Are you members of this instituition? Are you satanists? Are you nihilists or hedonists?

I RESPECT DR LAVEY A LOT! HE WAS THE FIRST ONE WHO OFFICIALLY GAVE SATAN A HOME, A CHURCH. HIS IDEAS AND TEACHINGS ARE PRETTY SIMILAR TO MINE, SO I INDEED SUPPORT THE CHURCH OF SATAN! YOU CAN SAY THAT I AM A SATANIST BUT NOT ONLY! I AM INVOLVED TO MANY MORE ASPECTS OF THE DARK SIDE. DEFINITELY A HEDONIST, BUT I DO NOT CARRIED AWAY BY MY LUSTS EASILY. I AM ON A QUEST FOR PLEASURE, MIGHT, WISDOM AND IMMORTALITY….

CROWNING THE WINGED SKULL (Enthroning the Dragon) is one of the best tracks of THOU ART LORD history, it is simple powerful and it include an fabulous chorus in latin, talk to us about the meaning of the lyric and the inspiration behind this new black metal hymn!

THE ROUGH TRANSLATION OF THE LATIN IS: THE GREAT KING OF THIS WORLD IS AN UNHOLY SPIRIT! THE SONG IS REFFERED TO THE PRIMAL FORCE, THE DRAGON,TIAMAT! THE DRAGON IS A PART OF US AND WE ARE A PART OF IT! HE SEES THROUGH OUR DREAMS, WE REAM THROUGH ITS WILL! IS THE BLACK POOL OF CREATION AND DESTRUCTION!

The lyric of the intense track SOCIETY OF THE DILETTANTI seems to be inspired by Aleyster Crowley's philosophy. Am I right?

IN A WAY YES. IT IS ALL ABOUT SEXUAL LIBERATION AND THE USE OF FREE WILL AND BE YOUR OWN GOD, YOUR OWN DEMON! THE PRAISE OF THE SELF!

The incredible song EYES WIDE SHUT AND LIPS WIDE OPEN are inspired by the scene of the mansion orgy in the last Kubrick΄s movie, Am I right? Do you like cinema? What are your favourite directors?

INDEED IT IS INSPIRED BY THE MOVIE ALTHOUGH MY LYRICS ARE REFFERED MORE TO THE DIONYSIAN RITES AND SEXUAL MAGIC. SEX IS APOWERFUL MAGICAL TOOL YOU KNOW….

(for Sakis) In my opinion (and this is only my opinion!!) DV8 is an album more intense and interesting than the last albums of ROTTING CHRIST, I think that you are more free to create the music for THOU ART LORD, without the heavy name of one label like CENTURY MEDIA. What is your opinion about it?

I KNOW SAKIS WELL. REMEMBER THAT WHEN IS A PROJECT AND NOT A NORMAL BAND, YOU HAVE THE FREEDOM TO DO ANYTHING THAT COMES TO YOUR MIND! THERE IS NO OBLIGATION TO THE FANS! YOU DO IT JUST FOR YOU

The new fashion of black metal is to put female vocals and melodic keyboards in the music, but THOU ART LORD continues maintaining the black metal roots. What do you think about the called melodic black metal?

I LIKE SOME OF IT BUT I AM GROWN ALSO TIRED BY IT! TOO MANY BANDS DO IT AND IT TAKES THE GUTS OUT OF THE MUSIC! IF YOU CAN MAINTAIN THE POWER THEN IT IS NO PROBLEM! YOU WILL NEVER SEE THAT IN THOU ART LORD OF COURSE!!!!!!

We would like to know what are the 10 best albums of the Black Metal history in your opinion and what are the 10 better bands of the present time?

WOW. BORING QUESTION MAN! CELTIC FROST, BATHORY, VENOM, SATYRICON,DARKTHRONE, IMMORTAL , EMPEROR ARE GREAT! NEWER BANDS: NAER MATARON, ARKHON INFAUSTUS, MELECHESCH…..

NOPE! NO LIVE SHOWS! I FIND THEM BORING!
