UNGODLY
The
power of the new death metal brazilian legions is incredible. We saw the
beginning of another sacred monster of death black metal in the land of KRISIUN,
MYSTIFIER, MENTAL HORROR, and another great acts, the name of this new obscure
& powerful creature is UNGODLY, and the first chapter in its saga is the
marvelous EP "HATE CELEBRATION", released by the label/webzine
METALVOX, a intense proof of the quality anf fury of these guys. KREPUSKULUM
interviewd the band.
KREPUSKULUM:
Talk to us about the band's history and the reason to play this intense kind of
death black metal music.
Daniel
– It
was in the middle of 2001 that I Had... the
idea to begin a death/black metal band. The compositions basically were made by
me and to the long of the time we were in improving and for natural consequence
the line-up was being molded until where we are now. Arnald
Asmoodeeus (vocals), Daniel Oliveira (guitars), Luciano Campos (guitars),
Fernando Campos (bass), Alex Rocha (drums). The
reason comes from the instinct (laughs).
UNGODLY
is a very symbolic and powerful name. What is the reason to put it in the band?
Daniel
- The meaning is the same of the name: unbbelievers!!! This is what we are!
The digipack cover artwork of "Hate Celebration" are really
interesting and blasphemous, it put Christ as a devote of Belzebuth. Where come
from the concept for this art?
Daniel
- Well, the idea I had much before thinkinng in record this EP. I always had this
cover totally ready in my head and I just wait for the right time to put it in
paper. I’m very proud in knowing that our EP cover was well accepted by the
Undergroud critical.
How did it
happen the contact and the negotiation with the famous Canadian artist Patrick
Tremblay for the creation of the cover art?
Daniel
- It was something simple and objective. PPatrick is an excellent artist and when
the theme is to make morbid arts, he gives a special attention and becomes it so
much profane that it’s waited. I made the conception of the digipack cover. I
explained everything with all the details and it’s perfect!!!
The first EP "Hate Celebration" is a great production, because it has
a very good record and mix and a great artwork too.The UNGODLY's compositions
are very brutal and agressive, but it has a interesting melodic sense. Talk to
us about the creative process behind the UNGODLY's music.
Daniel
- The compositions of the band basically aare made by me, but it’s don’t mean
that it doesn’t contained elements there that the whole band expressed.
Probably for the debut-album the band will count with more diversified
compositions therefore we have new members in the band. Probably we will have
more possibilities of ideas and creations stuff to become our sound each more
original.
We can listen influences of black metal, 90th death metal and some touches of
thrash metal in UNGODLY's music. In your opinion what are the 10 best black
& death metal bands of all time? What are your great influences?

Altars of Madness (Morbid Angel), Somberlain (Dissection), Goetia (Mystifier),
INRI (Sarcófago), Ugra Karma (Impaled Nazarene), Seven Churches (Possessed),
Soul Reaper (Life Eraser), Live (Vulcano), And the Sky Turns to Black
(Headhunter D.C.) Anti/God Anti/Christ (Acheron).
Serafin Vila, vocals and Keyborads in the EP, left the band. Which the reason
of his exit? What will change in the UNGODLY's music with Arnaldo Asmodeus's
entrance (former-Mystifier)?
Serafin
left the band just for not having available time enough for the band in view of
he’s very intense professional life. Then we decide to invite Arnald
Asmoodeeus by his excellent work in the Mystifier and he accepted the invitation
with opened arms.
Are
you SATANISTS or PAGANS? Do you believe in any kind of dark force or superior
conscience?
Daniel/Arnald-
We don’t believe in any kind of religion or anything that put boundaries in
the men to control his own life.
Do
you plan made a brazilian tour to promote the furious "Hate
Celebration"? Are you working in new compositions to the first Full lenght?
Daniel/Arnald-
Currently we are set appointments for some dates in Brazil, but our main
objective at the moment is to write songs for our debut-album.
The
brazilian black & death metal scene are growing now, some bans as KRISIUN
and MENTAL HORROR are very famous in all world. What do you wait for the
UNGODLY's future?
Daniel/Arnald-
Hard work for – who knows – reach the recognition’s people, not only in
Brazil but in all place with true metalheads that fight for the Metal scene.
