KREPUSKULUM interviewed Leo Manhães (B & V) of the grind noise splatter band more rotten and virulent of the south of Brazil, he talked about the way of the band and the recent release of its first split 7’EP with the European band MALIGNANT TUMOUR:  

What did take it you to opt for playing such an aggressive music style? Which the reason of the name VOMITO ( Vomit in english)?

Léo–at that time, when me and Marcelo P. (G &V) we decided to set up the band, we had the intention of playing an anti-cultural music, that was different than it was being played by people that used the scene Underground for solemnity-promotion and comercialism that were only interested in consumption, to leave of that longing we developed our sound and we adopted the culture Gore to write the letters, name was suggestion of Marcelo P., after changed terms the old (NAUSEA) for already to exist other band with this same name and as VÔMITO of right is formed it relates to the letters, it was adopted.

Does the band have how long of existence? Talk us about your musical career.

We began our rehearsals in June of 1993, of there for here, there were some changes of vocalists, we recorded several ribbons and we made also some shows, we always sought on that time to stay assetses inside of the scene Splatter Gore.
In the flyers of the band it is noticed a true love by aesthetic Underground and deep critics to the bands that seek money with their music. Talk us about that posture of you.
Nowadays we see the massification of an imbecile culture , imposed why sustains the media that they are the multinationals of the music, that it gets to be an offense our understanding, vulgar music with semi-nude women (only to call the attention) dancing and insinuating to sell more Cd, that for me is abominable, those cursed commercial fashions... not that I am against Cd, but as the multinationals sell and they profit I cannot support!

How did the proposal of recording BIZARRE LEPROUS appear (Czech Republic) for the release of Split 7’EP with MALIGNANT TUMOUR (Czech Republic)? were You happy with the result of that work?

Good, I already belong together at some time with Roman P., and he distributes our ribbons in Czech Republic and him it invited us for we participate of a Split 7’EP to be thrown by its stamp, of there we recorded and we sent close to for him art of our part and he took charge of the rest, we were very satisfied with the result of our first registration in vinyl.

In your opinion, which are the most aggressive and violent bands of the world? And of Brazil?

Léo–I will speak for me. Of the current, short bands a lot LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY, MOTICIAN, HAEMORRHAGE, MALIGNANT TUMOUR, EXHUMED, but I also appreciate a lot longing REPULSION, CARCASS (OLD), IMPETIGO, GENERAL SURGERY, REGURGITATE, here of Brazil has many good bands, I like LYMPHATIC PHLEGM a lot, NECRO CÉFALO, GORE, SARCASTIC, NECROTÉRIO, R.I.P., ROT, CARNAL THUMOR, OVARIOS and so much other...

What do you find of bands as CARCASS that led off the movement SPLATTER but later they did end up surrendering to the technique producing albums without the initial aggressiveness (can the same be said of NAPALM DEATH that produced two fucked albums and does they live of the fame that won with them). Does the VÔMITO think of changing its musical style some day?

Both bands in they influenced it a lot in the beginning with its first albuns, but soon they sold her and they began to do its music more and more commercial and losing its identity Underground, for me that tan its first works, it was a lot of decay to accompany that everything, but what matters it is that the VÔMITO will never move radically, we are a band Gore Grind and that won't never move!

With the growth of DOOM, of BLACK and of the MELODIC METAL, the space for shows and the recording ones are more interested in those styles, you believe that Grind is still a force Underground again. What do on bands that follow the mentioned styles think?

 
For me Grind continues very strong still and never die, what finds it is that these styles that you mentioned, are totally exposed to the media that transformed them in a great fashion to be consumed, the publishers sell like this more magazines, the stores, more Cd and T-shirts and with that the scene loses its spirit Underground and they becomes great lucrative business to sustain people that only explore our scene, that doesn't mean that we boycott bands of those styles, it is not that, after all, we have many friends, that they play in bands DOOM, DEATH or people that tan the sound, but they are real and honest people the scene Underground, I refer to people that has the capitalist instinct, the media and we didn't also support bands of NAZI BLACK METAL, that we see many today, nor any other discrimination form.

Where does the inspiration come to write the purulent letters of the VÔMITO ?

 
Our letters are stories SPLATTER GORE, inspired by terror films, headlines of newspapers mixed with a lot of blood and amid decomposed cadavers, they don't pass messages healthy expressions of the sadistic art GORE!

Which your vision on the religion and on God?

Religion = dominance instrument for the ignorance; God, that is very personal, but for me it is synonymous of ignorance, I explain, we attributed to God that that we didn't understand or we didn't get to explain, and being God is like this our knowledge lack, our ignorance, that that we didn't get or we don't want to understand and that found easier to attribute the divinities of the good or badly.
Talk us a little about the plans of the band for the future and on the new releases that are for coming!
Plans, it is to continue playing, recording new works and registering in vinyl or CD when possible, and to resist battling for the culture Gore, to play more several shows and to take more some beers... I Take advantage of to thank the space for we express a little of our ideas.
