HORDE OF WORMS

The most brutal grind gore splatter death act coming from Canada, in the style of old CARCASS with the energy of great new torments like DEEDS OF FLESH. This band already released two albuns, classics masterpieces of de genre!!!! We interviwed Brent  Assoun (Guitars and  Battery) and Alexander Erhardt (Guitars, Battery).

horde4a.jpg (14513 bytes)Krepuskulum: Why do you choice the name Horde of Worms??

Brent - It was not a conscious choice. The name basically evolved from names we chosen and we felt that it suited our style of music. It's a great name too!

How the interest to play Splatter/Death metal appeared??  Brent - For myself, it came about from being a big fan of bands like
Bathory, Venom, Destruction, Sodom and old Kreator etc... It was only natural that I would end up playing this kind of fast and extreme music.

Talk us about Horde of Worms way to the beginning until the release of  the second CD.

Brent - HORDE OF WORMS started in April of 1995 with myself, Alexander  and a drum machine. Chris came later on because we were friends and he had played me a tape of his vokills which sounded really evil. We then recorded  our first album "HORDE OF WORMS" with this line up. Gord joined around late  1998, when we were writing new material for our second album "Dreams and  Dying Eyes". After we released "Dreams and Dying Eyes" Chris left the band  to persue his own interests and we now have a new vokillist by the name of  Peter Cythrawl full time. Both of our albums have been released on our label  BLOODBUCKET PRODUCTIONS!!!

What do you think of bands as CARCASS that changed its sound for something more soft in the career end?

Brent - I really don't like it when bands that were absolutely brutal  switch to a more mainstream sound. Who knows, maybe they just got sick of  making little money and this was an easy way to reach a wider audience and  make more money?

Do you can mention the ten more brutal albums of the metal's history in  its opinion?

Brent - In my opinion, it would go like this. (not in any particular order)

- Cryptopsy - Whisper Supremacy
- Nile - Amongst The Catacombs of Nephren-Ka
- Krisiun - Conquerors Of Armageddon
- Immortal - Battles In The North
- Marduk - Panzer Division Marduk
- Angel Corpse - Exterminate
- Dodheimsgaard - Satanic Art
- Vital Remains - Forever Underground
- Tsatthoggua - Hosanna Bizarre
- HORDE OF WORMS - Dreams And Dying Eyes

Where does come from the inspiration to speak of decrepitude and death ? What do speak the lyrics of ABRA CADAVER, COSMIC WHIRWINDS OF INFINITY and  HOLOCRYPTIC PASSAGES?

Alexander - The ispiration for the lyrics come from many sources. I have always liked to play with words and the meanings. The world itself is full of death, destruction and chaos. "Abra Cadaver" is about a very sick magician who abducts and returns his victims to the spot were he abducted them but without a head! "Cosmic Whirlwinds Or Infinity" is about the ever
so violent winds of space that howl forever. "Holocryptic Passages" is the title for the song, the lyrics however are about the ancient mythological bird the phoenix!

" DREAMS AND DYING EYES " is certainly one of the most brutal albums of   the history of the Grind/Splatterhorde3.jpg (6035 bytes) metal. How has been the reception to that   CD.

Brent - The response to "Dreams And Dying Eyes" has been excellent. We have received a lot of praise for the sheer velocity and brutality of the music. We continue to get lots of great response from Europe, South America, U.S. and Canada!!!

Talk us about cover's image of " Dreams and Dying Eyes ".

Alexander - The cover for "Dreams And Dying Eyes" is a photo of a man on the Franklin Expedition to Arctic Canada. All of the people on this expedition perished due to the harsh climate and tuberculosis. They were buried and remained frozen in time.

Talk us about the gigs of HORDE OF WORMS and your plans for the future.

Brent - We will be playing on May 6th in Toronto, Canada and we will be taking some video footage. Our plans include putting out a MCD in the fall of 2000, followed by another full length album as well as promoting "Dreams And Dying Eyes" and playing more live shows! Hopefully someday in the near future we can play down in South America, Europe and especially the Dynamo Festival! We will see what happens...
BEWARE THE WORMS!!!
