MACHINA COELI
Progressive music with black metal visual and esoteric letters,
this is MACHINA COELI a one man band of Coatl M. Evil coming from Italy, a new Pandora's
box of great Bands. Krepuskulum called with Coatl M. Evil.
KREPUSKULUM: Talk to us a little about your band and your previous musical experiences.
COATL M. EVIL : I have no previous musical experiences at all. Machina Coeli is a
solo project born in 1997. During summer 1999 the debut Mcd was relased and I got a
distribution contract with Moonchild Records from Santa Cruz (California).
Your visual and your codyname in the band (COATL M. EVIL) are tied up to sonorities
darkwaves and black metal, however you say that yours has the proposal of to look for the
evolution and to pass a message of hope. Could you explain to us that contradiction??
I've always liked black metal: my god is surely to be King Diamond either alone and
with Mercyful Fate. Among the new bands I like Cradle of Filth and Emperor. Anyway, the
image created for Machina Coeli is quite darkish because I like decadence and
dakness...but I'm also na idealist that thinks that through knowledge and sentiments you
can change something: at least you can live a better life!
Talk us a little about the cultural amalgam of your messages, that unite Aztec culture
, Avalon and occultism.
I've got relatives in Mexico and I go there once a year: such a superior place is one
of my main influences, so I called myself COATL, that means snake. Beside this I love the
european middle-age tradition, expecially the romantic fairy-tales such as the Arthurian
myths: ideals, knowledge and sentiment! Regarding occultism, I'd rather talk about
science: I study the possibility of life outside our planet by analizing the martian NASA
frames and the most important archeological sites on earth.Visit my site http://go.to/cydonia
Why do you opt for instrumental music??? Do You intend to include more guitars and
drums in next album??
I opted for instrumental music because I think that words can not
completely represent my thoughs. On the full lenght there will be one entirely acoustic
track played by minstrel Max Michieletto, former guitar player of Asgard. Then some
electric guitar by Paul Loprete from Unreality and finally some sitar parts played by Aldo
Tagliapietra from the 70s italian progressive band Le Orme.
FINITOR VISUS NOSTRI is a beautiful album, a union of progressive, classic and Gothic.
Could you speak to us about your influences??
The band that brought me up is surely The Beatles, expecially George
Harrison. Then I love progressive rock, expecially Genesis and Gentle
Giant. Regarding classical music I do love Wagner; talking about rock I
like the 60s american east coast music: The Velvet Underground above
all! And of course I like heavy metal...but I also like rap, dance, punk,
soundtracks...everything!
Is notorious MORTIIS a strong influence in your music?
Mortiis gave me the idea to start with my project, but, with the years, I've lost the typical Mortiis inspiration. The thing that makes me happy is that he liked my cd and wrote me an e-mail!
Do you intend to play live some day???
No, it is too difficult and it would surely give the public an impression of coldness: too
much computer and sequencers! I'd rather concentrate on my two bands: Unreality
(power-progressive metal) and Quixotic (70's prog rock).
What is the MACHINA COELI plan for the future?
To get a good deal and to relase a full lenght cd: let's hope!!
