MECHANICAL CHAOS
Creative thrash metal with big influences of SEPULTURA and ecological letters. This is the mexicaine band MECHANICAL CHAOS, Victor Garcés (drums) talk to Krepuskulum about your debut album "Deaf Civilization".
KREPUSKULUM: How many years MECHANICAL CHAOS exists? How is the metallic scene in
Mexico now?
MC:The band is 5 years old, though the actual line up has been together for 2 and a
half years. The scene in Mexico is not as strong as we would want it to be, there are few
places where to play this kind of music, not every recording label sign metal bands and if
it happends the support is not enough, thats
why many metal bands in Mexico are getting together to make of this a stronger movement.
Talk to us about the process of recording " DEAF CIVILIZATION ".
Which the reason of the title of the CD??
we spent 3 months on the preproduction process and we began to record during 1 month
on november 1998. The cd title is the resume of all the lyrics in the album, they are a
calling for all the people who doesn´t want to realise the actual enviroment and social
situation we are living in, the people just
seam to be "DEAF".
The album's letters are very interesting and they possess a strong ecological and
social connotation, worried with the capitalist exploration, the destruction of the
forests and of the animal and vegetable species. Who does write the letters?? Where does
the inspiration come From?
All lyrics were written by Carlos AlejandroGarcia-Robles "C.A." (vocals and
guitar), expressing the way we think about this bullshit.
Some of you are members of GREENPEACE. Do talk us a little about your activities in
that organization??
We C.A. and Hanno are the activists of greenpeace, we participate in all the
activities as voluntiers.
What do you think about the recent ecological accident in Rio de Janeiro, the oil spill
in the beaches??
We think its one of many negligences every oil company has and obviously no goverment
do something quick to fix this kind of problems, thats why every person has the duty to do
something by itself.
MECHANICAL CHAOS invests in a thrash avant-garde metal, with a lot of variations .
Which the bands that you more they listen?
We have various influences from Hard Core to Death Metal, but we could say the most
importants are: "Iron Maiden, Sepultura, Inflames, Overkill and
Biohazard".
What do you think about styles like DOOM and BLACK metal and of the satanist posture?
Everyone is free to express itself by anyway, everywhen its good music.
Brazil possess good bands of thrash metal as the great SEPULTURA. Do you know other
Brazilian bands?
"Angra" (great band), "Ratos de Porão" and
"Titãs"(punk but nevermind).
The guitars are one of the high points of the album, mainly for the variety and
creativity of the soils, but the kitchen is also very competent. Who is the main composer
of the band?
In this album most of the songs (the older ones) were composed by C.A. because he is the
last original member and founder of the band, but some of the songs were composed by all
MC.
The thrash metal was falling, but in the moment it grows again. How does" Deaf
Civilization " interfere in that context?
Well, thats a tough question, we think thats something you could judge better than us.
Does the proximity with the USA facilitate the shows there?
Well, the proximity is an advantage but besides doing good music to compete in the
scene you must be lucky to be chosen between all the good bands in Mexico.
Do you already have plane of recording the next album?
Yes, we are working on it, but now we are more focused on a tour around the country
during february-march, playing together with "A.N.I.M.A.L." from Argentina. And
after this we are planning to play in USA.
