NEW YORK AGAINST BELZEBU

That grind-noise Brazilian band became a legend in the south america . Mixing social critic, nonsense, fury and humor sense, NYXB perhaps is one of the bands of larger personality in the current Brazilian heavy scene. Your mentor, the vocalist/drummer NELSON SANTOS, besides being the main composer and mind of the band is still the coordinator of one of the largest labels of extreme music of the Latin america, ROTTENNESS Records. The newest Cd of the band is the polemic album BATERIA E BAIXARIA, hated by many and loved by some!!! Krepuskulum interviewed NELSON SANTOS.

KREPUSKULUM - Why the choice of that musical way??

There was not a choice, we simply played in that way. It was the feeling that we fell in those days...

KREPUSKULUM - How is the music of the NYXB faced by the radicals of the movement, since you include a lot of humor in your music?

I really dont care and dont know about this, because no one radical person didnt talk me about this yet. NYAB often plays polemical stuff and different kinds of music in all past releases, so this is not new for the nyab fans. I think NYAB havent so many radicals fans, but most of them are open-mind. (I really hope...)

KREPUSKULUM -  The satire seem to be the main theme of the new CD , am I right??? Talk us a little about the creative process of sounds as " The Call of Ku-ru-ru " and of the funny " Grind you like Hurricaine ".

Like I said before, songs became in our minds at the moment that We were playing and it was the way that We played. Ideas goes and gone everytime. If you would be fast, you would "get the spirit of thing" and use this in your music. The sounds became firstly and names became after..

KREPUSKULUM - How has the sound of NY been received at another countries??

Really good. Persons from Holland and Germany has been approved and its very good for us. .
We will keep making noise !!!!

KREPUSKULUM -  Speak to us the idea about the tribute to NYxB that ROTTENNESS is preparing.

Well, any band interested in appear in NYAB tribute, will record a song from us and send us as soon as possible. (Dead line is: 2000, May/June). This idea became like idea of how will be another bands playing NYAB songs. No ROCK STAR feelings here, just curiosity to listen another bands from different styles playing our songs in their own way. Cd is planned to be ready in July or August.

KREPUSKULUM - How is the process of choice of the bands for your label???

If I like the band, Im OK to release any band under my label.

KREPUSKULUM - what you think of the current Brazilian metal scene? and of the world scene?

Brazilian scene is getting better I guess. World scene is the same - strong - because theres is easy to live, since theres a lot of bands and young persons didnt have to work to live. They earn money from Government. In Brazil is different. We are fucking poors, but we have claw.
