Oasis Play LA

Oasis rolled into LA on January 27th and gave a 9,000 screaming fans at the Universal Ampitheatre all that they could have wanted to see and more. The gates opened up at 7:00 and the fans hurried in to see the amazing Manchester quintet. Opening for Oasis was of course Cornershop. They were and average band but they did get the crowd going a bit when they played one of there songs called 45. But there was electricity in the air and it was definitely for Oasis. After Cornershop played their forty five minute opening set, the lights dimmed and the "Boys are Back in Town" by Thin Lizzy blared through the speakers. The crowd erupted and jumped to their feet. Liam strutted to the microphone and said " Are ya mad for it L.A" ? Noel laced into his opening chords of Be Here Now and the seats shook! Oasis kept the place jumping song after song and the crowd could not get enough. One highlight was at one point about half way through Cigarettes and Alcohol when a beach ball was hit from someone in the crowd and hit Liam right on top of the head. My heart dropped and I remember saying to myself " Oh **** Liam, don't get pissed and walk off stage". He didn't and quite suprisingly laughed it off. Noel wasn't so amused. After Cigarettes and Alcohol, Noel came out to give his acoustic set and said "if one of those f****** things hits me, i'm off" His acoustic set was absolutely amazing as he delievered a perfect "Don't Go Away" "Talk Tonight" and suprisingly "Help" by the Beatles. The band later delievered the best version of "Champagne Supernova" I have ever heard with Noel giving an 8 minute guitar solo at the end of it. After that they said "good night thanks" and walked off. But the crowd would have none of that and demanded an encore. The five walked back out and left the crowd with their mouths on the floor when they sang " Acquiesce" . I consider myself a diehard Oasis fan and I had a smile from ear to ear after the show. The fans lined up in a neverending line outside the Universal Ampitheatre for what seemed like days to see the best band in the world, OASIS, and came away awestruck. Absolutely unbelievable!!!
