OASIS SHEFFIELD ARENA September 22nd

The anticipation of the crowd was unbearable and the excitement was incredible. The scene was already and all of a sudden the music started and a mad man wandered around the stage looking at his watch. Oasis lead by Liam then entered the stage through a red pillar box saluting the crowd with their famous V signs. They entered to the sound of Be Here Now and as soon as they entered the stage the crowd burst alive.

Be Here Now was the first song and it was delivered perfectly by the boys from Burnage, with Liam in outstanding form. Stay Young continued the set and was another quickly delivered song. Stand by me followed and it had a superb introduction. The sound was defining and so was the set. This was a Rolls Royce with Whitey in it and Liam was in the middle, surround by the other members.

Oasis then switched to the older set of songs and started to play Supersonic, Roll with it and Some might say. Liam was threatening the crowd by this time, saying he could have all of Yorkshire. He was throwing the microphone around the stage and causing a lot of humour. D’You Know What I Mean was delivered next and the lads did well to cope with the song without any special effects. The introduction however was a little bit poor though.

Liam then left the stage and it was left for Noel to play his songs. Magic Pie was clearly the best song played and Noel kept looking at Meg while he was playing it. The tempo up a bit and after Don’t Look Back In Anger Liam re-entered the arena. Wonderwall was next, however it was quite a poor version. The set was still on electric guitars and Noel had to cope without his acoustic. Live Forever was dedicated to "THE PRINCESS" and then It’s Getting Better Man followed. This was the second best song on the night and it showed that Oasis are as good live as they are on their albums.

Champagne Supernova did not match the quality of previous song and it lacked someone like Paul Weller. Fade In/Out however was excellent. This had an extra long introduction and it did not miss Johnny Depp at all. The epic All Around the World was next and it was accompanied by a set of brass players. In the back of the set was a video screen that had a moving picture of the world. This was a great version and Liam left the stage, only to re-appear moments later with Naseem Hammed. Liam was shadow boxing him and then the band left the stage.

An encore of Acquiesce was the final thing delivered and this rounded off a perfect evening. This was an outstanding concert and was by far better than the one at Knebworth.
