Roxette is Marie Fredriksson & Per Gessle. Per & Marie formed Roxette in 1986, and immediately hit it BIG in their homeland, Sweden, with the #1 single of the summer, Neverending Love. This single was followed up by the full length lp, Pearls Of Passion, even though the song Pearls Of Passion never appeared on it, but was released as a b-side instead =)... An incredibly logical move. Really =)
Their second album, Look Sharp!, was only released in Sweden as well, but the song "The Look" became a huge hit in North America. When the single and album were released in the USA, "The Look" reached the number one spot on the billboard charts within days of it's release. This started Roxette's climb to International Stardom. They have had four Number One hits in the USA, and many top 10's. Their #1's include "Listen To Your Heart", "It Must Have Been Love", "Joyride", and, of course, "The Look".
There are ten official Roxette albums: Pearls Of Passion, Dance Passion, Look Sharp!, Joyride, Tourism, Crash!Boom!Bang!, Rarities and Don't Bore Us-Get To The Chorus! Roxette's Greatest Hits, Baladas En Espanol & Have A Nice Day. The next studio album will be released around Christmas 2000 (hopefully).
Per and Marie were both involved in other bands and their solo careers before forming Roxette. Per in a Swedish band called Gyllene Tider (Golden Times) as well as many others. Gyllene Tider enjoyed massive success in Sweden in the late 70's early 80's and released an English album called "Heartland Cafe" under the name Roxette. This album was released in North America. Marie was in a Swedish band called Strul, but they split up, and Marie started her career as a solo artist.
