Q & A With Julie and Cindy:

So I was going to ask you about the history of the Bloody Lips.

A:As far as the Bloody history is concerned...this is scary...it seems that inevitably we will have to mention The Burger...
since as I remember it, we were in a car driving to see Sonic Youth in Portland, and I was jammin on my new kazoo from Paris...playing que cera cera, I believe.

Q:You were driving too.

A: Right, when we decided that we needed to start a band so that we could have a practice space too since we finally figured out that "Band Practice" is just a fancy term for "gettin real fucked up with your buddies and ditchin your significant other"...anyway, it was soon thereafter that John told a story about getting a bloody lip

Q:One of those dorm stories if I remember.

A:And it was then that the Bloody Lips entire concept was born.

Q:All I really remember of that night was the club we were at had a wall of mirrors and John kept walking into them thinking that they were another room.

A:So after that we started practicing.

Q:Tell me about the involvement of our friend Peter who at at later date  metamorphosed into Marni and the inevitable practice space connection.

A: Well Peter used to practice at the Rendezvous. In those spaces downstairs with other bands he was in.

Q:Were Tuesday nights in particular picked for the usual night of practice?

A: The bar used to clear out into the parking lot because AA meetings were  conveniently held there. Nobody would have noticed what we were doing anyway. Eventually we wormed our way downstairs.

Q:Remember that poster on the wall with the cat that said "Hang in there Baby"?

A: Yah.

Q:Marni says it's still there.
