Oasis, Rosemont Horizon, Chicago, IL January 17, 1998

Oasis played a sold out show here in Chicago (well, just outside of Chicago) last Saturday. Over 18,000 fans have been anticipating this event now for two months. Although sales of "Be Here Now" is currently on the downslide, it was amazing to see that a venue such as the Rosemont Horizon sold out. Last year, Oasis played the same venue, touring to promote the million seller "(What's the Story)Morning Glory, performed without Liam and only filled 3/4 of the Horizon.

It seemed that the Gallagher boys would make up for last year's slack. To the opening of "Be Here Now", Liam came out pigeoned toed and hands behind his back, snarled his way through the song. Noel, not to be outdone, played the guitar like I've never seen him before. Elongating the songs with killer solos was astounding.

The highlight of the gig was when Noel asked the crowd, "Does anybody like Paul Weller?" (of course, most of the American teens didn't have a clue). Then he proceeded to play an acoustic version of the classic Jam song, "To Be Someone". It was a slowed down version with all the passion Weller put into the original.

An electrified version of Wonderwall got everybody rocking in the stands, even the moms and dads in the crowd. One encore was performed (which was amazing since Noel in past interviews said he saw no need to perform encores), the classic b-side, Acquiesce.
