A
couple of weeks ago I was working at my dads' office. It's incredibly boring
and quiet there so I brought my walkman with me for entertainment. Well
wouldn't you know that after a couple of minutes Matchbox 20 came on. Right
there and then I totally forgot where I was and what I was doing. So I
decided to have some fun. I started dancing around the room singing at
the top of my lungs to "3AM" while displaying some funky dance moves. Wouldn't
you know that they were having a
conference
across the hall and all eyes were focused on me! I didn't know what to
do. Everyone in the office was laughing like crazy and instead of being
embarressed I thought " hey, these are my boys. Lets live a little. Rock
on" and I continued doing whatever it was I wanted. One good thing came
out of it though. The man in charge of the conference enjoyed my "performance"
so much that he landed the deal with my dad's firm. He said that anyone
who could act like that in an office
and
not be fazed by it must have been listening to something pretty darn good.
To this day I can't walk into the office without being teased about it.
They jokingly ask for an encore every single time. But ya know, that might
not be a bad idea. Thanks Natalie!
(Yeah!! The matchsticks
(with the help of your funky performance) helped your dad land the
deal! Right on! Keep on dancin'!!)
I
was walking around the mall with my friend, and we went into camelot music,
and we were looking through posters and stuff, then I hear a VERY familiar
song, I couldnt remember what it was until they started singing the words,
and I ran up close to the speakers, and start singing out loud, and my
friend was so embarassed she walked out of the store without me. But the
song was "Never Going Back" the cover that Matchbox20 did! I was so happy
that I had heard it, because I was having Mb20 withdraws! I was singing
it the rest of the day!
I was at the orthodontist getting evil things done to my mouth when I faintly
hear matchbox20 in the background. Its "Push" and I just kept listening
to it and singing in my head a before I knew it the Orthodontist was done.
Not only are the the raddest band they relieve pain faster then you can
say Anbesol. Thanks
Jessica! !!
It was 2nd hour and we were taking a test in science class and I sit next
to this girl who completely worships Rob. (Not that i dont...) anyway,
before we were taking the test we were talking about how i get to go to
a Matchbox20 concert in Milwaukee and how she was so jealous. We
were both really hyper and all and in the middle of the test "3 am" comes
on over the radio. Now you can barely hear it cuz it was in the room
next door but we both look at eachother and start singing it
outloud.
We both got F's on our tests but it was funny as hell! and almost everyday
since then, "3 am" has been on the radio at about that same time, and everytime
its on everyone looks at us and expects us to sing and dance. Even our
teacher gives us a hard time! Thanks Lu
P !! (Well at least
your F's were for a good cause -- I wudda given you two A's!!)
One day I was walking into our local Fred Meyers
store and I just happened to walk in by the music department. They
had "Busted" playing over the store's speakers!! I ran into the music
department and starting singing and dancing around. People were looking
at me, but I didn't care :o) It was only a day after Rob's birthday
and I was really stoked - Busted is my fave mb20 sing too!! The matchstick's
opened with that song at the concert I went to - so I just pictured that
sacred night in my mind... It was pretty cool to hear the matchsticks
at our grocery store -- usually they play weird elevator music over the
speakers... E-mail Emily

I
have a clothing class and we always listen to the radio in it. I
personally hate sewing so I try to get out of it anyway possible.
One day Push came on and me and my friend just started doing this really
corny dance. It like we do whatever action fits the word he's singing.
So now every time we hear the song no matter where we are or who we're
with we do the actions. We now even have actions for 3 am.
And on Feb.14 we were at a forensics meet and I had my cd and we did the
actions over and over and over again. I think people thought we were
weird but I didn't care. Thanks
Lisa !!
(Here at Take A Sip, we don't think
you're weird -- those "other" people just don't know where it's at!!
mb20!!)
I
was at school. It was sixth period, and all of a sudden I heard "real world".
Up in the office they must have pushed a button by accident. But
it was cool. Me and my best friend were singing out loud. Our teacher could
not get us to shut up. They turned it off in the middle
of the song but
we still kept singing :0) Thanks
Jessica! (matchbox20
was in the school doing a private concert for the principal and secretaries!!)
I
was at a department store in the mall and they had Back 2 Good playing
over the speakers. I was thinking that it had to be a cd because
Back 2 Good wasn't a single. Then sure enough about 6 hours later
I go back into the
store and I hear Shame.
They had been playing the cd the whole time!!! For some reason that made
me really happy!!!
~ Thanks Heather
(Cool Store!)
Well..I was at camp and we were practising a dance in the main buliding
(you know..one of those dumb camp activities). Any way, my tape had the
music we were dancing to, and of course my tape had some mb20 on it.
By mistake I hit the wrong button, and "push" was blasted out over the
camp on speaker phone.=20
The teacher came
running down and went mental at me. :)! Thanks Dennis!
(I bet that *brightened*
everyone's day!!)
I was at 7-11 buying my bus pass for March and all of the sudden, I heard
"3am" playing. I was looking around to see where it was coming from, and
I saw a small radio sitting on the desk! Ha, matchbox20 in 7-11, there's
something that doesn't happen everyday!!
-- Thanks Shannon
Today I was in biology
class, dissecting fish -- eeew! I desperatley needed a matchbox20
"fix"... We usually listen to the radio -- and the DJ must've read
my mind... half a second into Push I was already like WooHoo!! Dancing
and singin' and goin' crazy -- I never thought dissection would be fun
-- throw in some matchbox 20 music and it could get Kinky!! me
Today
I went and got my hair cut. Quite boring, actually, sitting there
- staring at yourself in the mirror - I wanted to stick my tongue
out, or make a funny face or something. When I was just
about in dream-land I heard the first few chords of Kyle's beautiful guitar
strumming 3 AM over the speakers!! Yippee!! I started singin'
along - and the hair-cutter-lady looked at me quite queer. But who
cares!! It was matchbox20! It sure did brighten
up my day... thanks Rob for living through your terrible childhood - so
you could grow up and entertain me while getting my hair cut. That
was quite kind of you. Much Love to everybody -- Emily
ok - I had to chaperone
my little sisters downtown for "Kids Day" - this thing with exhibits and
stuff downtown for kids to do. I was starting to have a hard time
bumming off free stuff from the vendors, when I noticed a kareoke booth.
I flipped through the song book - Yippee! They had Push! I
signed up and waited, and waited...and waited. I was so excited because
I just happened to be wearing my matchbox20 t-shirt that day! Finally
it was my turn, everyone else before me really sucked - and I knew I could
rip it up.... So I got up on stage and had TONS of fun - my friends
were in the front row cheering me on - and even one of the kids in the
audience was singin' along (cool
kid!!) I
could hear Kyle singin' backup right behind me - it was really fun - I
definetly suggest to any matchbox20 fan! (funlittlefact:
Singin' Kareoke was one of Paul's lifetime dreams)
(I would put up a picture my Mom took
- but they look really stupid :P
Well I have two. I was buying shoes in a sports store and Long Day was
on the loud speakers. I started singing as the girl was lacing my shoes.
She gave me a quizzical look but I didn't care!!
Another was when they came to Australia reciently, I went rollerblading
next to the beach. The place that they were playing at was next to the
beach also, and I rollerbladed past. I saw a truck and some guys were unloading
a drum kit. I saw Kyle standing at the back entrance and I rollerbladed
right past him (doing a few turns and stuff to impress him!!(Lucky I didn't
fall over!!!!) He looked at me, but I was to chicken to stop and say hi.
I regret it to this day. Oh well... maybe next time!! (No
No No - you have it all wrong!! Fall flat on the ground - right at
Kyle's feet - you need desperate help!! Aaah!! Somebody save
her!! Then -- Julia softly wakes up to Kyle giving her mouth-to-mouth!!
Shagedelic baby yeah!! -- sorry about the little fantasy there - that's
what you get when you come to Take A Sip Of matchbox20!!) Oh Yeah
- I almost forgot - I was thinking about **Kyle** Thanks
Julia!!
Okay,
this isn't really a strange place I heard MB20, but It was wierd. I was
blaring my radio on aWashington DC rock station and they hardly ever play
Matchbox 20. So I was making a Matchbox 20 scrapbook, listening to the
radio and all of the sudden, "Push" comes on. I was like, "Whoa! How wierd
is this that I'm making this MB20 scrapbook when I hear MB20!" I started
singing VERY loud at like, 1 AM, with everyone asleep. I knew I was risking
my life screaming at that hour, but hey, it's my Mactbox 20, my boys! Thanks
I went to Orlando to pick up a friend from the airport...Later on that
night we went to Church Street Station which is in downtown Orlando...It's
like this historical shopping street with clubs...So my best friend Missy,
Sara, and I are walking down the street past the clubs, and what do we
hear blaring from inside one of the clubs??? "Real World"...so Missy and
I started singing at the top of our lungs as we kept on walking...these
guys who were walking infront of us turned
around
and looked at us like we were wierdos, but we just smiled at them and kept
singing...It was great!!!
