BB MAGAZINE - WINTER 1999

"Fast Forward to Hanson's New CD"

Hey Hanson fans! Ready for a new album already? Well, the Tulsa, Oklahoma, musicians--Isaac, Taylor and Zac Hanson--tell us exactly what you can expect.

MMMBop, ba, do, ba, do, ba, doo bop...

We could sing that song as well as "Gimme Some Lovin'" from 1998's Hanson: Live From Albertane, until the end of time. But, Ike, Taylor and Zac Hanson say that won't be necessary, snce they've been spending serious days away from the spotlight and in the studio. Yes, Hanson fans, your fave songsters have been working on their future release, due out later this year, and you can be sure their new songs will be just as special as the ones you already know and love.

How can we be so sure the new CD's gonna rock? Well, for starters, Taylor, the band's lead vocalist and keyboardist, tells BB that he and his bros have been on an ultra-creative kick. "I think that what is most important is that we continue to be creative and put out the best music possible. I think music should continue to change, evolve and keep things interesting," the 16-year-old says. One thing that will totally make this album way-special is that it will be totally personal. "So far, all the songs we've written by ourselves, without any co-writers," Tay shares.

Yep, the Hanson bros have written more than 25 songs so far. But, of course, not all will make the final cut. "We have a lot of songs, but it's hard to say whether they will be on the record or not," Isaac, the band's 18-year-old guitarist, notes. He adds, "Our goal is to do something different, to make a record no one has made--but, at the same time, keep some similarities [to 1997's Middle of Nowhere], so that we don't leave people thinking, "Wait, is this a totally different band?"

READY 2 ROCK

While Isaac and Taylor look forward to making an awesome album, 13-year-old drummer Zac tells BB what what he is most excited about is performing live. "I was at a show the other day," Zac remembers, "and I was sitting and just realizing how much fun it is to be in front of the fans playing music. So that is one of the things I am mainly looking forward to." And as for feeling pressure about how the fans will like the new album, the guys are not worried a bit. "No one, especially us, would have thought that Middle of Nowhere would have done as well as it did," Isaac says, "so with this one, we're just going forward and [will] continue to make the best record we can."

So be patient, Boppers. Even though the guys can't tell us exactly how long it'll be before their long-awaited CD hits your local record store, time will go by fast... in an MMMBop it'll be here!
