Smash Hits Interview

This an excerpt from an August '99 article in Smash Hits:

"We hope no one's forgotten about us, but it's always a risk," admitted now braceless Isaac Hanson on a rare translactic phone call to Smash Hits. He then broke the depressing news that the new Hanson album won't be out until next year! "It'll still be pop, but with more of a raw edge," he reckoned, adding that the boys are now recording in LA. "We go in the studio at 11am and come out at 2am!"

However it's not been all work, work, work. The boys have been using their long layoff to brush up on their surfing skills. Says Taylor (who now has a ring through his ear), "We've been getting real good at it, especially Zac, he wasn't keen on it at first, but now he's really got to love it!"

Zac himself is now a lofty 5'8" and his voice has broken. He booms to Smash Hits that no, none of Hanson have girlfriends at the moment and that the hold up in the new material was due to their tour, which continued in US until last September.

As for competition from the likes of the Moffatts, Taylor says, "I just think it's cool that there are so many new artists out there." And before the boys were dragged back to the mixing board, Zac had time to gush one last message: "We're really missing all our British fans. Thanks for your support and it'll be worth the wait. I promise!"
