Questions for IKE!
We've completed about 25 songs, which we have written...it's possible we could be recording now or a month from now...it's not confirmed.
Do you want to talk about the promotional CD from MOE, your fan club magazine?
We are doing a special enhanced CD...it has special computer-related things on it like screen savers and wallpaper and special video clips...for people in our fan club MOE. They get the special CD that has, among other things, five songs, which are from our previous independent record. We were trying to get that out to people, because there were a lot of things going around on the internet...
A lot of the fans have been writing asking why it's been so long since the first album. Did you plan to take a break?
I think it was circumstance. If we would have known how things would have gone, we might have changed a little bit of what we did, but I don't think we have any regrets...So we're just going to make the best record that we can and hope that everybody likes it. We're doing it not as quickly as possible, but we're definitely wanting to get it out.
On a more personal note, what's the best thing about being single?
I'm not necessarily one to be a single guy, however there is the nice little bit of freedom there. I'm definitely one who would enjoy having a girlfriend. I just do not have one at the moment.
I got my driver's license, and I have to say a lot of times I will drive Ike's car, and he will be like, "Uhhh." I'm practicing parallel parking with him. But I guess I can't really say whether I am a good driver or not. Driving is definitely fun, as it always is when you first start out. I enjoy it and it is very cool to have that freedom when you turn 16.
Taylor, you get lots of love letters and marriage proposals. How do you feel about that?
Well, actually I am getting married. No i'm just kidding...but I definitely think it's very cool to get to read letters, and we get some awesome fan letters, all kinds of things from fans, so you can't ever forget that. That's definitely a very cool thing.
We've heard that you've gotten an earring.
I did get an earring, a cartilage piercing up on the top. But everybody's just grown a little bit, voices have dropped a little bit. Besides that we're the same guys...
What's your take on groups like Backstreet Boys and N'Sync, because you guys share a lot of the same audience, what do you think about their sound?
As far as those guys, they're doing a great job. They're really working hard and you can't criticize those guys, because we know what it's like to be on the road all the time. You know, they're making their music and we make ours...so all the power to them.
Do your brothers treat you differently now that you're older? Has your curfew changed?
First of all, we really don't have a curfew, and no, not really any different. I've always been treated like I am. We really don't treat each other like we're different ages. As far as I'm concerned, I'm 18, and as far as I'm concerned, Ike is too.
Are you guys on the internet all the time and do you ever pay attention to what the fans are saying about Hanson?
Yes, we do get on quite a bit, whenever we have a chance to. And we try to listen to what fans are saying and what they think of new music things or what they want you to do...I'm not the big internet-goer, it's mainly Ike and Tay and MOE, our fan club magazine, is how we really like to keep in touch with the fans. They send us letters and sometimes we put a couple of letters that are really unique in the magazine. We write articles in it. It's 32 pages and we try to stick all kinds of weird and cool articles and things we've been doing.
Tell us the truth, who's a better driver, Ike or Tay?
Well, first of all, Tay has a little less experience...As far as what I've seen of Tay's driving, he is a good driver. And Ike, with the more experience factor, is a little bit better of a driver because he has been doing it longer.
