"Hanson Q&A, Part 2! Ike, Tay & Zac Talk About Their Fans!"
TEEN BEAT: How is Zoe doing? Have you guys gotten any new pets?
ZAC HANSON: The answers are: good and no.
TEEN BEAT: Do you guys still live in Tulsa?
TAYLOR HANSON: We still live in Tulsa, in the same place we always lived. We're in and out of Tulsa a lot, but that's still home. You still have your friends and your family there and that doesn't change.
TEEN BEAT: Have fans in the Tulsa area found your house and have you taken any precautionary measures to keep them off the lawn?
TAYLOR: Lots of people have come to the house. Since all this has happened people come and they take grass out of the lawn! Caravans of people stand outside and there are buses that come and unload. We're kind of like the one tourist attraction in Tulsa, which is not very exciting at all. We definitely get quite a few people coming to the house. It's kind of a weird thing to look out your front door and see people standing out there and holding sign and stuff. But, I mean, we love the fans and that's great. I would say if there's one thing we might change it would be to not have tons of people standing on our front lawn. But the people definitely have found us out.
TEEN BEAT: Are your neighbors still nice to you or are they getting kind of annoyed with the whole thing too?
TAYLOR: I think sometimes it can be kind of annoying. I can understand, because you know they pull out of their driveways and there are cars in their way or sometimes they've gotten people coming to their house. But we've known all our neighbors for a long time and they've known us since we were playing music in the garage, so they don't really care.
TEEN BEAT: Have you ever received anything really outrageous from a fan and do you still get lots of fan mail and gifts?
ZAC: Yeah, these girls made a thousand little origami cranes and they hung them on this round thing and they came down and they were all these different colors. You know, some of the stuff they do and how much time they spend doing this stuff is amazing. I feel bad a lot of times because they're like, "We spent eight months doing this," and they give it to you, and you go, "Are you sure you don't want to keep this?"
TEEN BEAT: We heard something about you getting a special Volkswagen Beetle made for you, is that true?
ISAAC HANSON: There was someone that had proposed that, but it didn't go through.
TEEN BEAT: Do you have any funny fan stories for us?
ZAC: A couple of times on tour, you're sitting there after the show and you're looking around and all of a sudden you see these people trying to sneak through, like get backstage, and all of a sudden the security guard comes up and he's like, "What are you doing?" and they say, "Um, we were looking for the bathroom." It's pretty funny some of the excuses people come up with when they're trying to get backstage.
TEEN BEAT: Is it true that sometimes you aren't able to give autographs or have them take photos?
HANSON'S PUBLICIST: I think the only times those come up are when it's a group setting, maybe like at a mall, or in a record store, where because of the volume of people that are there, in order to do that it would take maybe eight or 12 hours. A lot of that stuff is set by the venues the guys are actually in, in order to help with crowd control problems.
TEEN BEAT: Do you guys go online and do you ever pay attention to what the fans are saying about Hanson?
ZAC: Yes, we do get on quite a bit, whenever we have a chance to. We try to listen to what fans are saying and what they think of new music things or what they want you to do or things like that. I'm not the big Internet-goer. It's mainly Ike and Tay. As far as fans and stuff, we have a magazine called MOE, which is our fan club magazine. And that's how we really like to keep in touch with the fans. They send us letters and sometimes we put a couple of letters that are really unique in the magazine and we write articles in it. It's 32 pages and we try to stick in all kinds of weird and cool articles and things like that, things we've been doing.
TEEN BEAT: Who are green Jello?
ISAAC: For some odd reason, groupies of ours have named themselves, and they go around calling themselves different things. For some reason it's food related, why I don't know. There are random ones like green Jello, green jellybean, blue jellybean, red jellybean, Dr. Pepper, black licorice. It's just
things that people have taken from random things that we have said in interviews and they have adopted them to their own group names. We know a bunch of the fans because they have shown up in a lot of different places.
