History

Cradle of Filth hailed from Suffolk, England. From their early existence in 1991, CoF consists of

  1. Dani - Vocals
  2. Paul Ryan - Guitar
  3. John Richards - Bass
  4. Ben Ryan - Keyboards
  5. Darren - Drums

In 1992, they recorded their first demo entitled Invoking the Unclean with the original line-up. Later on, they once again went into the studio to record a new demo called Orgastic Pleasures with the addition in members - Robin on guitar. Robin left after a while, claimed that he was "on their path" but returned as bassist when John Richards left. Then a guy named Paul Allender joined as guitarist.

Total Fucking darkness was released in December 1993 and they got more attention in the underground scene. The last demo was claimed as "the only important demo we did" by Dani. They later on signed with Cacophonous Records. Their drummer left and was replaced by Nicholas. With the new member, they released their first LP, The Principle of Evil Made Flesh in April 1994. The LP sold more than 30 000 units. John Allender and the Ryans brothers are force to leave after they failed to continue with the band on a personal level.

New members were recruited to fill in the gaps. new guitarist - Stuart and Damien on keyboards. They recorded a mini CD in 1996 with the new line-up plus a session guitarist, Jared Demeter. The mini CD - Vempire or Dark Faerytales in Phallustein was their last release from Cacophonous Records.

The band signed with Music for Nations on November 1996. With this label, they released the album Dusk and Her Embrace (best album to date). After a year or so, keyboard player, Damien left the band and was replaced with Les Smith (ex-Anathema). Currently, the band are working on their new album - Cruelty and the Beast. The album should be out now.
