Your "To Do" List for Tolerance

1. Be open-minded
Having an open mind is probably the most essential key to spreading tolerance. To better tolerate others, we need to respect others' individuality as part of what makes each person different and unique.

2. Respect others' rights
As people, we are all entitled to certain "human rights". You may not agree with everything people do, but we are ALL entitled to be people. No one person is better than another, regardless of their race, color, or religion.

3. Educate yourself
By learning as much as you can about tolerating others, you will be better equipped to spread the ideas of tolerance. Plant the seed and help it grow by learning as much as you can. But remember, you also have to act out with what you've learned.

4. Help educate others.
Spread the information you've learned all over, so that other people may gain use of the knowledge. Remember the saying: "Knowledge is power".

5. "Practice random acts of kindness and selfless acts of beauty"
As the saying says, do whatever you can do to make others' lives a little brighter. Just one kind word could make someone's entire day! Even better, do this to people you may not even like. You don't have to like everyone, but you can do something to make their day a little brighter.

6. "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are."
Nobody expects you to solely make peace with the human race, but anything you can do to help it along is fantastic. If everyone made it a point to try to tolerate someone they don't like, then we'd already have a much happier world.

Remember, you're not alone in the fight for tolerance, and anything you do to help spread tolerance brings us one step closer to reaching the finish.
