May 1970-October 1970
(l-r) Danny Kirwan, Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Jeremy Spencer.
This is what was left of Fleetwood Mac after Peter Green quit in late 1969. However, they did just fine, recording the also superb
Kiln House in 1970. Danny Kirwan's material was stronger and more rockin' than ever, and Jeremy Spencer actually wrote some
songs (he was responsible for the overwrought Buddy Holly fixation). Christine McVie was also really a part of this lineup,
but contractual obligations to Chicken Shack prevented her from joining until August 1970. A few months later, in L.A., Spencer
went to get a magazine and never returned. After a few days, he was discovered to be living with the religious cult the Children
of God (with whom he has had a band since the late 70's). Oddly enough, Peter Green filled in for the wretched remaining 6
weeks of that tour, playing 90-minute-long improvisational jams versions of "Black Magic Woman."
