Well, Ben Folds Five is currently in the studio working on album No. 3 (or 4, depending on how you look at it). In a recent AP, Ben says the new title's gonna be Songs In the Key of C, but when you see that Darren says it will house "the longest guitar solo of all time," you remember what jokesters these guys are, and nothing they say can be taken as fact. Anyway, right now, we're looking at a late winter/early spring release.
Certainly a tour will follow the release of the album, but they are not touring now, due to the work on the album.

Fear of Pop featuring Ben Folds, the infamous Eddie Walker, and William Shatner will be performing on Conan O'Brien on Friday, January 22, at 12:30 EST on NBC.

Ben's Fear of Pop album, Volume 1, was released November 17 on Sony 550. It features the single "In Love," featuring William Shatner.

"Air" is their latest new release, and a fine one it is. As a track for the soundtrack to the summer (alleged) blockbuster Godzilla, our boys join likes of Rage Against the Machine, Foo Fighters, Puff Daddy & Jimmy Page, and scores of other mediocre rock acts. They're also preparing for the recording of their next album, as well as the instrumental solo album by Ben Folds, under the moniker "Fear of Pop"... no info yet on either.

TNT broadcasted the tribute to Burt Bacharach on April 15. Ben Folds Five was, as usual, the obvious highlight with their amazing version of "Raindrops Keep Fallin' On My Head."

Whatever And Ever Amen

has been deprived of some of its humor! It seems the big-wigs over at Sony 550 have decided to yank the between-track studio chatter and the hidden track. This is...aw, hell. It SUCKS!

BEN FOLDS FIVE was on
SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE
on January 10 with Samuel L. Jackson.

Ben Folds Five is my favorite band, Samuel L. Jackson is one of my favorite actors, and SNL is my favorite show. How cool is that?
Well, I got my hopes up. Not only were they only allowed to play one song, but it was one of my least favorite BF5 songs, the song that put them on SNL, "Brick." That's radio, folks: put out the worst, most boring, least characteristic song on the album,< and people will buy it. Don't get me wrong- "Brick" is a great song. But most of their other songs are a lot better. I figured they would play 2 songs, as is SNL's policy. I knew one would be "Brick", and I couldn't wait for their second, rockin' song (probably "One Angry Dwarf"). And on top of that, Ben was clearly quite nervous. Think if you had never heard of Ben Folds Five (like Samuel L. Jackson, who called them "The Ben Folds Five" at the end), and you heard this dry, simple, semi-boring song. You wouldn't like it, unless you worked for a radio station. That's not Ben Folds Five! Ben Folds Five rocks! Ben Folds is a piano GOD. But that's not what you saw on SNL. How sad. E-mail SNL and whine!
