Hunter Smith
I am 40 years old,(10/26/57), single, and work in
telecommunications. But that doesn't really
describe who I am. I write fiction, I'm an artist,
and a singer. I've had some essays published, but
I'm really working hard at getting my first novel
in print. It's 'southern fiction.' My artist days
are kind of few and far between now. I used to
work as a graphic designer for about 8 years, but
I eventually just got burned out on that. I got
tired of people telling me what things should look
like! I had my own ideas. Anyhow, I did design
the cd cover for my latest musical project called
"Umbraco." It is a collaboration with a norwegian
friend I met on the a-ha list. I sing and he's
in charge of the music. It sounds like a mix of rockabilly and
Morten's "Vogts Villa" period. I
have been in two other bands before this one.
I have no grand ambitions in this direction, though.
I like to sing, and I take the opportunities
when they come.
My fascination with a-ha came kind of late. I
discovered the band in 1991, with "Crying in the
Rain" which was kind of a hit in Denver. I went
back and bought all the early albums, then found
the single "Dark is the Night" in an import bin
in 1993. Only then did I know yet another album
was coming out. "Memorial Beach" is closest to
my heart, but "East of the Sun, West of the Moon"
is probably their very best. I'd like to see them
do at least one more album. Will it really happen?
