S.f.u. was, at first, a side project for Chris Barnes (ex-vocal of Cannibal Corpse) and Allen West (with Obituary). It also feature Terry Butler (once with Death and Massacre) and Greg Gall.

But now S.F.U. is here to stay, after the split of Chris Barnes with Cannibal Corpse, Chris decide to keep Six Feet Under as his full time group. First, they release Haunted (september 29th, 1995), followed by a world tour. Then they went back on studio for the recording of two new tracks, Insects and Drowning, they also recorded an old Judas Priest's song; Grinder and four live tracks to give us the E.P. Alive and Dead
(october 28th, 1996). Next they released a full new C.D. called Warpath (September 9th, 1997) including a cover of Holocaust's Death or glory. This L.P. was bringing a new kind of vocal for Chris, but the result was very amazing. Then they came back with, what is on my mind, the best SFU effort to this date Maximum Violence (July 13th,1999), This one is the most brutal and technical stuff they ever made and it introduce Steve Swanson (also formerly with massacre) on the guitar, replacing Allen West who now concentrate on Obituary. Finally in October 2000, the Graveyard Classics album hit the street, it's a cover collection of songs that had an influence on the SFU members

I had the chance to see S.F.U. live two times, first in Quebec city for the "Haunted tour", and the second time in Milwaukee at the Metal Fest this time supporting the "Warpath" album. They're Great, if you've not seen them yet well don't miss them when they'll pass by your town.
