has worked with a wide array of artists including
Ronald Shannon Jackson's Decoding Society and the
jazz-punk-dance band Defunkt in the early 80's. He
revived the notion of rock'n'roll as a black art form
with the group Living Colour (formed in 1984) and
released four albums: VIVID, TIME'S UP, the EP BISCUITS
and the latest STAIN since disbanding in 1995. He is the
co-founder ,with Greg Tate, of the Black Rock Coalition
and has appeared as guest guitarist on the records of a
wide array of artists: Jack Dejohnette, Public Enemy,
B.B. King, The Ramones, Mariah Carey, Mick Jagger, Tracy
Chapman, Eye & I, Family Stand, Carlos Santana, and
others. In recent years Reid has composed scores for
numerous film and dance projects including Robert Longo's
JOHNNY NMEMONIC, the Marlis Yearby Dance Company, the
choreographer Ralph Lemon and the acclaimed dance piece
STILL/HERE for the Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company
which was presented at the Brooklyn Academy of Music Next
Wave Festival.
