I was lucky enough to be at the show. It was amazing! I hope they'll play more. I think they are even better then RUSH. I made a LC live mix today of songs I downloaded from the NET and it's really good quality. Words can't describe how great this band is.

the show was amazing!!!!! it was a very special night. i aslo saw the show online at cbgb.com. it's weird, my mind doesn't want to believe that it actually happened last night. the whole experience was so surreal. Cycles was the first song. hopefully I’ll
have some reviews of the show at my LC site soon.

correct me if i am wrong, i might be...but i think the first couple songs were gangter, worship and trance...then living colour loveliness:
GO AWAY, MIDDLEMAN, TIME'S UP , CULT OF PERSONALITY, BI, MEMORIES CAN'T WAIT, LOVE REARS IT'S UGLY HEAD, TYPE, OPEN LETTER.. AND THE ENCORE WAS A STELLAR "CROSSTOWN TRAFFIC" THANK YOU LIVING COLOUR!! AND THANK YOU TO CBGB'S FOR ALLOWING THE LIVE STREAM. I
WISHED I COULD HAVE MADE IT UP THERE.

Just wondering.. There is a show tonight at CBGB -with Headfake.. the former members of living colour.. hmmm.. also says a very special guest but doesn't mention Vernon Reid.. could he be the very special guest? well anyways.. I know the show is going to
be streamed live at 10pm.. visit http://www.cbgb.com - I am pretty sure they are going to archive it. Oh well
Comments:
CBGB.com has just confirmed that they are webcasting the HEAD>>FAKE (actually LC) show tonight! too bad they gave us such short notice. a lot of fans are gonna miss out.

Vernon, I was about five feet away from you at the show in Austin, Texas(first night). this was my first time to see you live since LC in 1993, so it was a very special night for me. the show was incredible! your new rhythm section is great. Anybody know
the name of the drummer and bassist? i’m a drummer myself, and it was totally amazing what he was doing. During his solo it seemed like he was playing some super fast swing beats mix with drum’n bass/jungle beats (very cool). every song was beautifully
one. Does anyone know if any of the shows on this tour were recorded? It would be a shame if they weren’t. oh, and I loved they way you had your dreads! They were like tied together in the front. It looked so cool!

ayin for him to come through like he did in rock and to be black, must have been like climbing over a bolder 99.9% of the world is never gonna climb! and couldn't if they wanted to! anyhow just to let whoever you are know if you see a redheaded kid blow u

Sam and Other Vernophiles,
I saw the show on sunday at the house of blues. It's been three years since I saw Vernon Reid play, and It's like he hasn't missed a beat In between. The lineup has changed In masque. Leon Gruenbaum of Masque and My Science Project is still kicking strong
Due to the absence of world renown clarinetist Don Byron, and Turntabelist DJ Logic, leon has taken on triple duty with the clarinet and triggering samples with the Samchillan tip tip tip chepee. Major Kudos to Leon I don't know how you do it. Masqe has
new Rhythm section. The names escape me, but these guys had me mezmorised. The bass player bears an eerie reseblance to Mark Sandman, although he's much funkier. The drummer is Marlon something, I guess he has played with John Scofield. His style is not
unlike Ronald Shannon Jackson(he was all over the place). Oh, did I mention Vernon Reid Was in this Band? Man that guy can play the guitar. Mostly revamps of mistaken identity songs, With a little Monk and a mean Watermelon Man. It is a rare treat to see
Vernon In Boston from the unnanounced sit in's with Club D'elf and suprise apperances at the Middle East, But he's welcome wherever he may decide to pop up next. -Matt

I'm very Excited t see and hear Vernon Reid and Masque at the House of Blues in Cambridge on Sunday the 12th, but I'm curious is this the same Masque as I saw in 1996 with Logic and Don Byron, or is this a completely different band with the same name. Ex
mple: Living Colour once featured Vocalist D.K. Dyson and keyboardist Geri Allen. Someone who has seen an earlier date or is aware of the lineup please let me know so I can pursuade my friends to blow twenty dollars with an educated description.

Popped on Mistaken Identity for first time in ages - it's great. Got me to thinking how important Living Colour, and specifically Vernon Reid were to me. I always found them very positive, even on Stain, which was very dark. Living Colour live at the Well
ngton Town Hall, can't remember the year, is still the greatest rock show I've EVER seen - the way it built, the way they surprised by opening with A Love Supreme and closing with a ballad, the way they gave it their all, to a small crowd at the bottom of
the earth.
Vernon, If you read this, THANKS.

Hello from Davis, California! Thanks for the great site.
I am here because "Mistaken Identity" is the best album I've heard in years! I'm also a big fan of Living Colour, as well as Prince Paul.
I would love to see Vernon live in concert. I did see an early Living Colour gig, but they were opening for the Rolling Stones at the "BC Dome" in Vancouver, Canada. The sound was muddy and I was about a mile from the stage, so it pretty much sucked. T
en the Stones came on and, lo and behold, the sound was crystal clear. (I hate it when they screw the opening band like that!)
Looking forward to checking out this site further, and looking forward to the next album!

Hey What's Up Sam !!!!!!..Nuff respect !!!!!!I love The Jungle Funk CD too !!! "Ugly Face" is a great track...It was a tough sell I'm sure, but the music WAS INCREDIBLE.......Sam do you know if Vernon is signed ? Take Care
Comments:
Of course I would buy the cd. I bought MI, Jungle Funk, and Corey's cd's the first day in stores and I would do the same with This little Room. Thats because I'm a huge fan. On the other hand, you have casual listeners who are just content with hearing th
mp3's. Only the real fans will go out and buy the cd.
Comments:
Hey Sam, it was cool that you heard some of Vernon's new material. But do you think Vernon may NOT have wanted that stuff heard yet ? Maybe he's ANTI-NAPSTER. It probably was out of his control to have this happen. Now the real question, Will you purchase
the physical CD if and when it's OFFICIALLY released to really appreciate his work....in other words so Vernon could get royalties.....Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!!!
Comments:
Give the above address a try.
You might dig it.
Vernon's been a big influence on those songs.
And please download the full MP3s so I might
get some dough :-)

Hey Vernon. I love the new stuff!!!!!!! Unfortunetly some ass put your album on Napster, but being me(one of your biggest fans) I had to download 6 songs from it. I've gotten really into the new songs. Fearless Missery, and One of the Days are one of my

Almost all of
'This Little Room's songs have been floating around in Napster. I have heard 12/13 (all songs but 'The Lost Halo') of the new album and I have to say that TLR is a BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.
First of all most of the tracks feature a male vocalist (a singer, there's no rapping at all on this disc).
I don't know his name but he sounds a bit like Dean Bowman (formerly Screaming Headless Torsos, Don Byron's 'Nu Blaxploitation' [the latter being one of my absolute favorite records ever in spite of DB's vocals on a couple of tracks]) - which means that h
is totally HORRIBLE. He just sounds like a stupid fool, like an average college rock singer - there's very little or no originality present. Not to mention that the lyrics are awful crap (some of them might be written by Vernon though).
I was also very disappointed with the album music-wise. Don't get me wrong, there are a couple of great moments which remind of Vernon's status as one of the most original guitar players around:
- the intro to 'Afflicted'
- the song 'One Of These Days' featuring a female
vocalist who is 100 times better than the aforementioned male singer. Makes me wonder why
there isn't much more of her on the album? (she seems to be singing backgrounds on other songs
too, but the Dean Bowman-soundalike pollutes the album mostly)
- the instrumental 'A Foretold Fate' which has a great guitar solo
- some parts of the instrumental song 'G...'
- ...and finally the absolutely beautiful
intro to 'Bright Shinny Things' (last song on the album) which unfortunately dissolves into a completely dull mediocre rock riff song featuring that stupid rocker on the mike once again...
Only 3 (or 4 if 'Lost Halo' is instrumental) of TLR's 13 songs are instrumentals. All but one of the rest feature that disgusting singer.
So I ask:
Where is the MyScienceProjectesque stuff, songs like 'Slow Moving Target'?
Why isn't Beans handling the mic bizness?
Where are the multitude of guest musicians?
Where is Don Byron's jazzy clarinet?
This album counts as a big minus for Vernon.
I'd say that of former LC members, WILL and DOUG have been continuing with a good style (Headfake, Jungle Funk, all solo albums, Doug's appearance on Moondive (www.vpro.nl/moondive LISTEN TO THE REALAUDIO STREAM OF 1999 SHOW 1 (4th June 1999)), etc.). Whe
eas COREY and VERNON have been going all the way down......
Pheww, that was a lot of thought. Go to Napster for a peek of the new album. ANYWAY - for support - I'll buy it and I'll encourage you to so also.
Vernon is the most INGENIOUS guitarist alive. But even he does mistakes and releases stuff like this sometimes.
Comments:
In response to the prepaid cd release idea, It's not a bad idea, but a more realistic one would be for Mr. Vernon Reid to follow the Idea his former Bandmate Corey Glover Realized by releasing an online live MP3 through Emusic to raise funds to Buy back t
e recordings he did for sony 550. It's my understanding that this is an expensive task But it would reconnect Vernon's music with the fans that really want to hear it. In the meantime the fans can just take on transcribing the old shit to keep them busy.

I´m argentinian, and I´ve seen Vernon here in Buenos Aires in two straight nights. I´m a old fan of LC, and the solo works of the LC members, but Vernon y simply my favourite musician of this times. And his shows were the greatest thing I had see in the m
sic scene in this country.
Also I went to a concert of Joe Satriani, one month later than the concerts of Vernon, and I´ve think: "well, is not that good".
In fact, Satriani is great, but nothing compares to the music of Vernon, and his awesome band (Marlon Browden in "What´s my name" is unhuman).
I hope we can see them in the future. And please, Vernon, RELEASE A NEW ALBUM, PLEASE.
Well, that´s all. Excuses for my very ugly english. But that´s how we talk here in the Third World (the ass of the world, we call it).

Re: Vernon's long-awaited CD...when I found out through divers means that DJ Logic had been touring w/VR, I dropped him a note to ask him what he knew. His response: VR's album is done, but Sony dropped him before it could be released. Damn the major la
els anyway! A thought (and Vernon, if you're reading this, a proposition): how many of us would be willing to prepay for the CD (say $10-15) to allow Vernon to duplicate and distribute the thing himself? Sign me up! I'm told that Marillion has funded b

I don't know about Corey/Vernon being the reason. It could be true, but I have to hear it from Corey or Vernon first. I do know for a fact that it was Vernon's decision to break the band up. Will confirmed that in a interview, and heard vernon say that in
several different articles. But there was some tension.
Comments:
Why they broke up? After the Stain tour, the band's whole chemestry was being destroyed. Vernon didn't feel the other members the way he wanted too anymore.I believe the Vivid area was the best in his mind,'cause everybody got along so well.lots of fun an
all,no seriousness, ego, tention or whatever.During the making of Stain,Corey and Vernon did not get along well..You know,I thing it s just normal, like any relationship...the remain my favorite rock band, although I listen to a lot of jazz and weird stuff
ow.Check out Ronald shannon jacksons's live at the Greenwich Village.it features Vernon and Melvin Gibbs in a free-form improvising context..more jazz than rock i'd say.

My bad... that UMASS show I was talking about was in 1988, not 1992. Man that was a long time ago...
Comments:
Dear Vernon,
I first saw you play in 1992 in the Student Union at UMASS Amherst several
months prior to the release of Living Colour's debut album. Man - you guys
blew my fucking brains out on the floor. All my guitar playing friends went
home with long faces and talked of suicide for weeks ;)
Living Colour was by far my favorite band for years so I was bummed when you
guys split up. But... things must move on I suppose.
Mistaken Identity is a masterpiece. Out of the 10,000 or so CD's in my
collection, I always pull that disc out when people come over and crank it -
turning on whoever I can to your work. So... not for nothing man - just a
random empirical data point from some dude on the Internet. Your work is
regarded as high art in my house. I hope you release some more material soon
and get out to Boston to tour again someday. You're missed.
- Peace

dear sir, i wanted to thank you again for visiting law.,ks. on
the "jazz train" this month. your playing was
magnificient as always but your warmth and graciousness was even
more impressive. your wisdom shared w/me after the first night
showed me alot abo t your character as a man and a musician. i
didnt know until a short time before that you are friends w/
jesse jackson-the leader of the best group in town, and a really
great guy. he told me you bought a 50's model car of some sort
while you were here-co gratulations and good luck getting it up
to N.Y. anyways, im waiting to correspond w/you about that
possible lesson(fingers crossed)! p.s. project logic is all that!

Thanks for playing at The Jazzhaus in Lawrence'Ks on April 6.I
didn't get a chance to chat-I was busy fixing the sound and a
zillion other details.Iam a touring musician and my band[The
Majestics Rhythm Revue] was leaving for Colorado the next day.Your
gr cious demeanor and cooperative spirit were greatly appreciated
in what was basically mass pandemonium.I have owned this place
since 1982 and will add you to the list of fabulous players who
knew how to deal. It is a very long list but includesBarney Kesse

Great Website! I have a question which you may have the answer to.
I'm wondering what kind of pickups Vernon had on his Hamer that
he played during the Rolling Stones tour. I have a video that
documents the band around that period and I really like the one
he was getting. Thanks!!

Of intrest to Vernophiles: I picked up a copy of living colour's
stain album after losing my original copy. To my surprise, three
guitar solos were different than my original copy. After finding
another copy with the first solos on it. I examined the albu s
and linar notes for differences. to my dissapointment there are
no differences including the catalog number. I have heard rumors
of these alternate solos, but never had the opportunity to hear
them. These solos are a reminder to me of what got me inte ested
In Vernon in the first place. He plays so spontaneously and
manages to make the most obscure sounds come out so musically and
naturally. Happy hunting Vernon fans. By the way I'm still trying
to find a copy of the currently out of print Japanese im ort

I've been drumming for 12 years now, and I listen to Living
Colour (either of the 4 releases, I have them all), before all my
gigs, to get the right feel and attitide in my head. Thanks..Jes

To say my last weekend was amazing would be an understatement...I
went to the three "Full Catastrophe" shows in Santa
Cruz, San Francisco, and Sacramento. Vernon's playing was
beautiful...the music had an ambient but funky feel to it and I
can't wait to g t my hands on a copy when it is released. I had a
chance to meet Vernon after being a fan for 11 years! Can't wait
for Vernon's next solo outing but these shows will hold me over
for now! Thanx for visiting the west coast Vernon...please come
back soon!!

I've never been a "fanboy" type, but Living Colour was
just so good, I keep rediscovering them over and over in my CD
collection. I miss Living Colour so much I actually bought "Living
Colour: Super Hits" this morning, even though I already have
all of th songs, and its just a knock-off "best of"
collection collecting dust in the bargain bin in the CD lane at
the supermarket. I've been doing my best to play "Type"
on my guitar lately. I've said it before, but thanks again for
this site. I love discoveri g new music all of the time, but I
think LC will always rate as my favorite. ...

PERCY HOWARD, VERNON REID, TREY GUNN, CHARLES HAYWARD. The above
artists will be performing two shows in the San Francisco Bay
area and one show in Sacramento during the week of Feb. 22, 1999.
The shows will be in support of Howards forthcoming release
on Materiali Sonori Records FULL CATASTROPHE. The quart t will be
at Palookaville in Santa Cruz on Thursday, Feb. 25, The Maritime
Hall in San Francisco on Friday, Feb. 26, and at Old Ironsides in
Sacramento on Saturday, Feb. 27. Full Catastrophe is an
experiment in juxtaposing lyrical, melodic singing with th
textures of ambient music, the strength and power of rock, the
mystery of improvisation, and the sensuality of groove. It marks
the first musical meeting of four musicians that have their feet
equally planted in the worlds of avant-garde experimentation nd
melodic rock. Be prepared for the music to create an entity of its
own that will transcend the expectations of those seeking the
artists individual past creations. Interview and
information requests regarding the project can be addressed to
Percy How rd via any of the methods on the above letterhead.
Vernon Reid is best known as the leader and driving force of the
two-times Grammy awarded rock band Living Colour, but his body of
work includes far ranging output; from his first appearances in
Ronald Shannon Jacksons Decoding Society in the early 80s
to his recent recording with David Torn and Elliot Sharp for
Knitting Factory Works, Gtr Obliq. Vernon has been a
seminal and influential rock guitarist, historian, and
sociologist if you will. The latter two designations given life
in his formation of he Black Rock Coalition more than a decade
ago with Greg Tate. Reid has collaborated with an impressive
array of musicians since the disbanding of Living Colour in 1995,
including Don Byron, Bill Frissel, and DJ Spooky. Reids
last solo release, Mistaken dentity, was an adventurous brew of
hip-hop, jazz, rock and textural music. Reid has also been
working in the area of theatre and scoring films. Percy Howard is
a singer/songwriter/producer/poet who is the leader of the
Northern California ambient post-rock band Nûs, who have two
releases on the Belgian Label Sub Rosa, All the Vertical Angels,
and Inside is The Only Way Out. Percy is currently col aborating
on a series of projects with some of the most interesting
progressive musicians in the world. In January 1998 he recorded
the MERIDIEM project with Bill Laswell, Fred Frith, and Charles
Hayward. Meridiem recently performed a series of three successful
shows on the West Coast, including a sold-out date this past
January 14 at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. In
addition to the MERIDIEM project, Percy has currently started
production work on a recording with Vernon Reid, Trey G nn of
King Crimson, and Charles Hayward, which will be recorded in Feb.
of 1999. Howard also has projects planned with Bill Reiflin, ex
of Ministry and Jarboe (SWANS), and will contribute tracks to
Bill Laswells next Material project, the hip-hop oriente
INTONOMOURI. Howard also is a reader and Poet on the upcoming Sub
Rosa release The Hashishsheen, which also features Iggy Pop,
Patti Smith, Laswell, ,Techno Animal, and Sussan Deyhim, among
others. Howards background in singing is a mixture in equal
p rts of rigorous classical training and soul, and his stylings
have been compared to Nina Simone, Johnny Hartman, and Scott
Walker. Charles Hayward is a drummer/percussionist and singer who
is best known for his work in the extremely influential English
band This Heat. Charles is a much in demand musician who has
performed with various musicians, from Heiner Goebbels to
Everything Bu The Girl. Hayward is a musicians musician,
recognized by many as one of the most brilliant rock drummers
breathing. Hayward recently collaborated with Frith and Laswell
on the latest incarnation of MASSACRE. Trey Gunn is the Warr
guitarist in the current incarnation of King Crimson and its
fracktals Projeckt 2 with Robert Fripp and Adrian
Belew, and Projeckt 4 with Pat Mastelotto, Robert Fripp, and Tony
Levin. A native Texan, Gunn now resides in the Pacif c Northwest
He began his musical life at the age of 7 playing classical piano.
His interest in music grew through various instruments --
electric bass, electric and acoustic guitar, keyboards, and now
the touchstyle guitar. He has toured and recorded with many
modern day masters in their fields -- Robert Fripp, David
Sylvian, Michael Brook, John Paul Jones and Toni Childs. He is
currently a member of the most unusual band of rock history --
King Crimson. For his role in this configuration of the group (an
unusual "double-trio" line-up with two full rhythm
sections) Gunn has helped evolve a new and unique instrument.
Designed and built by Mark Warr of Warr Guitars this instrument
is an 8-string guitar with the range of a piano. It can be heard,
in depth, on his recently completed 2nd solo album "The
Third Star" on Discipline Records. WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING

Once in my younger years. I met Vernon at Ralph's in Worcester,
MA. I was so exited to meet him and to converse with my hero. I
was absolutely starstruck. At some point I said, "Man, I
would cut off my left nut and sew it to my forehead to jam with
you". He put his hand over his face and said "Ehwww,
Don't do that" I just thought I'd share that with the fans
that would probably do the same for such an inspirational artist.

how to listen deeply to a song. Most of your music for me has

Those of us who live in New York City are truly lucky to live in
the town where VR lives and performs. Guitar Oblique (GTR OBLQ)
played last month on the 18th at the Knitting Factory. This is
Venon's collaboration with David Torn and Elliot Sharp. The music
is abstract-avant wacky, compelling if you're into that sort of
thing. They have a cd out now rec rded live from two previous GTR
OBLQ gigs recorded earlier in '98. You can order it thru the web
at knittingfactory.com. A weird thing happened during the second
set- one of Vernon's amp heads, which was sitting on a spkr cab.
and which had a nearly ful 6-rak of guitars on it, came crashing
down just behind his back. those of us sitting right up front
thought for a second that the contents of the stage were going to
crash down upon us! V was ok, and after inspecting the
instruments and electronics for amage and checking connections,
the set resumed. Strange nite... Also all last month V curated
the music at a place called Tonic. His performance there on 12-19
was just incredible. two sets. The first was mellow, with Vernon
playing both acoustic and electric guitar, as well as the flute (on
the Starr guitar). He p ayed with Larajee (sp?), an electric
autoharpist, Don Byron, and a few others. Truly amazing stuff.
Then for the second set, he had a full electric band, basically
the same instrumentation as Mistaken Identity minus Leon on the
Samchillian. This set smo ed! They even played "What's My
Name", a great tune I hadn't seen him play before. Overall,
a well balanced and excellent nite of VR music. Ethan

concluded each night's final set with Will doing a drum solo with

The song "Trance" referred to below is usually played
by Will and Doug when they perform as Headfake or Jungle Funk

Will and Doug do it with Jungle Funk, but it wasn't on the

thursday He played at Central park summer stage with Tracy Morris.
The piece that really stuck with me was something to d with love.
Tracy said there was mutiny on the stage because Vernon wanted to
play it before it's scheduled order. I don't know what it was
called, but the chords just gave the words life. In other news I
saw three of the four sets of Vernon Will and Dou . Someone next
to me recorded the first set of the second night, but I'll bet
Will's got some DAT's from the Board as He's apparently done with
each Jungle Funk show. As for the performance, They played
Incredibly. I was shocked to hear GO Away. Vernon played all the
vocal parts on the Guitar. Will played some Wavedrum. Doug gave
us some Old Skool funk. I'm still dazed from the whole
experience, so I Can't say much ore. Ask me later when I've had
time to collect the whole Vibe. -Matt

I can't believe they played together! Dream come true! I wonder
what kind of stuff they played? I wonder if they played any LC
tunes? Anybody who saw this show please let me know! I hope th y
recorded that night! A show like that is too sacred not to get on
tape! Will, Doug, and Vernon on stage....now thats pure bliss.
Musicly it dosen't get much better than that!

Hi, anyone know if there were any singles released from Mistaken

for the album would turn up as b-sides. Also has everyone heard
Living Colour's cover of 'Sunshine of Your Love' from the Tr e

The track is so powerful with their virtuosity it's like a ton of

I couldn't agree more with that last message. Living Colour in
many ways were the next big step in rock n' roll and music as a
whole. But its a tragidy and a shame that even though they took
rock to a whole new level of musicality, most of thier music and
what they achived was and still is ignored be the mainstream, and
the music world in general. This is one of the points I try to
get across with my Living Colour Site.

Two things: I found Time Tunnel in a bin at a record store the
other day for $2.00. Part of me was sad that it had come to that.
However, I bought it because I didn't own it and hadn't been able
to find it anywhere. It inspired me once again. I've watched it
twic and am in the middle of the third time. (does that mean I
have no life?) Anyway, I've said it before, Living Colour was the
next step in rock and roll and the rest of 'em just haven't
caught up yet. But when they do, they are going to feel really
stup d for not giving props where they belonged. The second thing
is, if anyone is in the Phoenix area, give me a call. (information
has the number) I'd love to talk about the band, or Vernon or
Corey's new stuff or just about music in general. As I watched
Time Tunnel I realized that the reason L.C. wasn't accepted more
than they were, was because it was about the music and the
message and not image and most people have a big problem with the
truth.

hi IF YOU GIVE A DAMN...... I just saw Mr. Glover and the band
tonight in Minneapolis at First Ave. Very few people showed up (Pearl
Jam was playing at an arena across the street) but Prince's
drummer was in the sparse crowd. The set: Sermon, Middle Man,
Little Girl(?), Wade in the Water (cover of Staples Singers),
April Rain, Sidewalk Angel, Things Are Getting in the Way (?),
The Joker (a cover of Steve Miller Band), Love Rears Its Ugly
Head, Do You First, Then Do Myself and Cult of Personality.
During Wade in the Water, Corey dropped the mike, jumped off
stage and sang like that for a few minutes. He has a powerful
voice. ALso during love rears its ugly head, he jumped off stage
with the vocal mike, ordered a water from the bar and took
pictures with people in the crowd. His voice is still really
strong. He said he was mad about the local radio station asking
for an autograph and then saying they were going to Pearl Jam.
His band is so-so. The drummer was the best musician by far. The
bassist was pretty good. The guitar player seemed lost. I've
heard him play acoustic and he is talented but he seemed to get
lost during his solos. Sort of puttering around. Though they put
ut a good show, really worked hard despite the handful of people.
I met him afterward and he was real nice. The whole band was as
well. I hope that he finds happiness in his new career.

Vernon, if you are out there I would like to say 'Thank you-truly-
from the bottom of my heart.' As a young black kid who really
didn't want to be trapped in the confines of R&B and soul (although
I did love them), you and LC, Prince, Jimi Hendrix, J.P.
Bourelly, to name but a few, showed me there was more. And you
stood at the forefront. Because of Hendrix I started to play and
accept different music. Because of you I tried to find my own
voice and forget certain notions of how music should be played.
Also, how everyone should perceive black artists(JUST LIKE
ANYBODY ELSE!!!) If being a fan means trying to emulate, respect,
be as articulate as, and most importantly, being inspired to move
on with what you've taught, then consider me the greates fan.
Thank you. The two greatest moments in my life are the birth of
my daughter and meeting you, Will, and Doug in Frankfurt, Ge

just missed your show in Aschaffenburg last year!!! Well I'm

I'm interested in knowing if there is any chance of a Living
Colour reunion, and what Vernon's plans for the future are. It's
ashame that more people weren't able to comprehend Living Colour.
They are the next step in rock and roll. As soon as people q it
trying to re-live the '70's, people will start to recognize this
fact, I hope.

Hmmm... I had a dream last night with Vernon Reid in it, but he
was shorter and chubbier than I imagined, and he was wearing a
huge t-shirt splattered with paint (like his outfit in the
CoPersonality video, except a t-shirt) He was playing under an
overpa s in the city, as a guitarist in a new project with Chuck
D, after the show (it was low volume, like a bunch of friends
listening) he nods and says "Hey Ben" I smile and go
home....

For all you Mistaken Identity fans and freaks, V's set at the
Cooler in NYC on 12/26/97 was amazing! Beans wasn't there (so
Signed Ficticious wasn't attempted, but there was a nice freeform
style poetry from (I think) Tracy Morris. It was a quartet (guitar+,
drums/percussion, DJ, and samchillian tip tip tip cheee peee). I
think an electric bass would r und out the sound a little, but
this is V's conception (and its great just the way it is), and L.G.
anchors the low end nicely on his invention. Gruenbaum played a
really cool solo set on the samchillian before the band went on.
There was really trippy stuff played, my favorite of which opened
the show. It was an intense meditation/fireworks display of the
Titanic disaster. Just wish I could have seen the Fall gigs in
Europe...

Wow! You can't know how I am glad and happy to write you

since I play electric guitar. When I had my first one I began to
play all your songs from Living Colour. Meanwhile I was really
bad but did not give up and I strove to acheive them. At last I'm
able to play some of them. Therefore I'm a big fan since many
years. I guest you can reach those guitar's gods such as: Jimi
Hendrix, Clapton and whatever. You're simply one of the best. The
end of Living Colour was a dissapointing moment for me but with
your solo project I think that your knack for the guitar is still
here. Keep on making such good and wicked music! By the way you
should come in concert more often! Bravo! Excellent! Tu es le

that is music today. I am curious about what happened to Muzz
Skillings, Doug Wimbash and Corey Glover? If anyone knows
anything, drop me an e-mail. Thanks for keeping the spirit of
Living Colour alive. Great music should be shared, hopefully i
will never die.

Hi, Big Living Colour from Kansas City. They were my first band I
really followed. Saw them live at the first Lallaploza.

let me know if and when you find out anything about it.

Vernon will be appearing on Monday, September 22, at the Knitting
Factory in NYC as part of Digital Slam, a digital simulcast.
He'll be linked with Marque Gilmore, who will provide drums,
samples, and drum 'n' bass breaks in London. The show starts at 7p
(in New York) and admission is $6.
