     - The remastering of set II:
trying to make a long story short - this show was treed in 1999 with the
MR>PCM>DAT>CD source for set II. Back when i first got into the Dead and
knew nothing about trading i bought bootlegs. A partial set II of this show was one
of the first i ever had ("Live At The Orpheum Theatre", Swinging Pig Records)
and i always wanted to get the whole thing. So when Brian provided me with the
tree discs after i missed the tree, i was realy happy. Before throwing away the
bootleg i decided to do a quick comparison and - the bootleg was better! Mainly,
there was a brief cut at the Let It Grow > Drumz transition on the tree CD and also
a gradually increasing background noise throughout set II. None of these problems
appeared on the bootleg. However, the boot had only the Lazy Lightning>>Stella
section plus JBG, with NFA spliced out so cleverly i never believed the setlists
until i actually heard it :)
Obviously, the best possible solution was to paste the two sources together and
with little experience and no pro software tools myself i turned to Bill for help. Who
as usual did an excellent job (just exactly perfect, so to speak) so that we now have
what i think is the best version in circulation of this must-hear show. Of course
Billīs ears still detect some anomalies in NFA but thatīs what happens to You after
spending hours & hours sitting in front of the PC and Sound Forging...:) And of
course the background noise NFA and Magnolia (missing on the boot) couldnīt be
     helped.
So the exact source breakdown for set II now runs like this:

Might As Well, Candy Man & JBG: SBD > MR > FM > PCM > DAT >CD

Lazy Lightning >> Stella except NFA: SBD > ??? > bootleg (where this superb
boot was sourced from remains the big mystery)

NFA, Magnolia: SBD > MR > PCM > DAT >CD

     - Set II is as great as it looks, this one is for post-retirement disbelievers! :)
