Sounds too simple doesn't it? Well it is. The Bible teaches that everyone has sinned.
"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" - Romans 3:23
And sin is a the reason for death, suffering, pain....
Many people reject Christ because they don't believe in sin. I don't blame them. If you don't believe you're "lost" then you certainly won't see a need to be "saved".
But in the light of the presence of death and suffering in the world, this view casts God in a negative light making Him either the cause of evil or too weak to overcome it.
"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." - Romans 6:23
So how do we free ourselves from the penalty of sin? Through Jesus Christ.
"Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: whom God hath set forth [to be] a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;" - Romans 3:24-25
"Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:" - Galatians 1:3-4
"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38
So all one has to do is repent of one's sins, and confess Jesus Christ as Lord of one's life.
"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" - Romans 10:9
I encourage you, if you haven't already done so, to make this commitment to Christ to be lord of your life. No matter what you've done, no matter how "bad" of a person you might be, you have a unique chance to start all over with a "clean slate". There's no sin too big for the blood of Christ to cover.
You don't have to join any church or give any money. The gift of salvation is free. All you have to do is pray and confess your sins to God and accept his son, Jesus Christ as lord of your life. I guarantee that this is a decision that you won't regret.
