We arrived about 3 hours early, since there were no assigned seats (1st come-1st served) Needless to say, we were first in line to get into the Ballroom. By the time the band took the stage, I was ready for some Thin Lizzy music. I stood right in front of the stage and enjoyed every minute of the show.
On this particular nite, Scott Gorham had a cast on his leg and he was forced to play from a chair. (he had dislocated it on this tour in Washington DC) A stranger standing next to me asked me if I would like one of Scott's guitar picks. I said that I would, and he reached onstage and grabbed 2 or 3 and gave me one. The show itself was outstanding! Great sound and light show. I guess you could call it the
After the show, my friend Boyd asked me if I wanted to go backstage. Of course I would, but how could he arrange it? He said to let him worry about that and give him a few minutes. He somehow conned the security guard into letting us backstage. After we walked down some stairs, we walked directly into the dressing room. There I met Phil Lynott, Brian Downey, Scott Gorham, Darren Wharton and Snowy White. They were very friendly and more than happy to oblige us with autographs. |
