Madstock IV

It's that time of year again where 75,000 people gather in Finsbury Park to see the greatest group in the world. Yes: IT'S MADSTOCK IV (Hurray!).

Madness plus speacial guests will be appearing at Finsbury Park in North London. Tickects are priced at £25.00 a piece from Mean Fiddler (Credit card hotline: 0171 344 0044) and the doors open at 12am.

I'll be there just as I was two years ago at Madstock III and hopefully I'll be at the front again just as I was two years ago at Madstock III. If you see me come and say hello. I'll be the one out of 75,000 people who is wearing a luminous yellowish/ green jacket, blue jeans, black T-shirt and carrying a ruck sack.

New To Madstock? Here's The Dos And Don'ts:

As an experienced Madstocker I would advise that anyone going and wanting to stand up the front should not wear anything decent and would probably be best to go in old clothes. If you are taking a ruck sack to house your programmes and T-shirts that y ou buy there I would also advise taking a few plastic bags to put inside the ruck sack in which you can place your merchendise away from the wet. It is not advisable to give anything you buy to the bouncers at the front of the stage as they will just plac e it under the metal fence that keeps people from getting to close to the stage where it will get wet and can be clamed back by anyone else. The park itself will be filled with arm & a leg burger stalls so take your own lunch unless of course your rich. T here will be a big crowd: look out because there will be thieves and what not so your best bet is not to put anything valuable into your trouser pockets. The big crowd is murder when exiting the grounds so if your with a friend keep close to them. Having said that I went with my brother two years ago and my cousin also went with a few of her friends and although we were at the very front and she was at the very back we still managed to bump into each other on the way out and that was in a crowd of 75,000.

What To Expect From Madstock IV

The park will probably have a bungy crane set up again as well as having a few other things like that. The supports get better and better as the night draws in. Last time there was Catatonia, The Mike Flowers Pops and Squeeze amoungst others. Last tim e Madness finished a little over time at 11:00pm with them swinging from the raffters littrally. They played all of the classics like the Bed and Breakfast Man, Night Boat to Cairo, It Must Be Love and House of Fun as some of the lesser known brilliant son gs like Land of Hope and Glory and some new stuff like Wonderful.

So be there: Sunday 7th of June 1998, Finsbury Park, London, England.
