SHUDDERBUG
Shudderbug emerged from the depths of suburban KC in spring of '93 from a group of guys that
had been friends for years. Since then the core line up of Kevin Montgomery, Kris Montgomery, Bryan Sedey and Adam Schlicht have switched horn players numerous times to get the sound they were looking for... they've finally found it. Beginning in high school, this band gets their party type style from playing parties for their first couple of years. Later becoming a "college" band promoted Shudderbug further as they played a myriad of colleges in the Midwest including: University of Kansas, University of Missouri, Rolla, Park College and CMSU in Missouri. This gained the skill they needed to perform in the "real" clubs at the same time giving Shudderbug a massive following in the Northland (KC) as well as the rest of the midwest. As time progressed this sextet recorded a 7 song EP entitled "Kick it White Boy" and recorded a 4 song demo at Great Plains Studios in Des Moines, IA. Shudderbug is primarily a regional touring act looking to break out of the Midwest circuit they've been playing for years including Texas, Kansas, Arkansas, Illinois, Missouri, and Oklahoma. This band is fully capable of transporting it's equipment, has it's own road tech, stage crew and security.
Shudderbug's sound is a unique blend of rap, hip-hop, alternative and funk. This unique sound is often compared to the funk of James Brown and Red Hot Chili Peppers and the heaviness of Rage Against the Machine with the hip-hop of Digable Planets. Newly added member Marcellus Daniel gives Shudderbug the soulful hip-hop tip while smoothing over the melodic rap of Adam Schlicht. Joe Hubbell adds the jazz spice to the mix with the saxophone and layers of auxillary percussion. Kevin Montgomery blends the funk with the aggression in his combined playing with the rootsy groove of Bryan Sedey. Completing the line up is Kris Montgomery whose influences include James Brown, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Arrested Development. This combination of young talents from the Midwest give Shudderbug the dimension that will create an outcry in the music industry in the coming years.
SHUDDERBUG'S STAGE SETUP
Shudderbug is fully capable of headling a show as they have done so many dozens of times with their stage set which consists of almost two hours of original material. However, they can and will open with a their 40 minute set. Shudderbug has done covers in the past but only likes to perform them on occasion. Stage orientation should include three vocal mics, one horn mic, one auxillary percussion mike, one guitar mic, mic's suitable for a 5-piece Premier kit, one crash cymbal, an eight inch chinese and a djembe', the bass guitar prefers to be miked direct.
