Regis: Billy, we made it together. You made the show! Finally! It's good to have you here.
Billy: Thank-you.
Kathy-Lee: Now we were delighted to receive that note from you because we always feel like we're so, like out of it and fudyy-duddies and stuff. And when you liked us it was like 'wow!'
Billy: Um, when I told a lot of people that I told a lot of people I was coming on the show they were like: 'oh really?'. So I think a lot more people watch you than you would think.
Regis: Well we hope this hasn't hurt your career.
Billy: Well, listen, if I haven't hurt it already...
Regis: The Pumpkins just got back from an 18-month tour of the world?
Billy: That's a little generous but yeah, pretty much.
Regis: And the reception was the same everywhere you went?
Billy: Pretty much.
Regis: It's something how music communicates all over the world.
Kathie-Lee: Is it any different for you to perform in, say, Sri Lanka that it is in Detroit?
Billy: I've actually found that it's pretty much the same, um, specially because of music videos, I think more people understand and see you. It's amazing how many people around the world speak English, 'cause we can't speak any...
Kathie-Lee: They love you everywhere!
Billy: Well...
Regis: So what's it like out there on the road? I mean, young girls still scream and yell and carry on?
Billy: You're obsessed with the subject, yes.
Kathie-Lee: You know what it is? He's so jealous it's unbelievable. He just said, if only in my next life I could come back as a rock star.
Billy: It... I mean, all the cliches are there, but I'm pretty much just about music, so...
Kathie-Lee: Oh please, we're supposed to believe that?
Billy: Well, my family is watching so...
Kathie-Lee: Look, Billy Corgan's father sitting with us right here!

Regis: Don't let her shake you up, Billy, I'm here to protect you. But, you know the people ask you...
Billy: I know she likes the long-haired men.
Kathie-Lee: No, no, no, babe, no no. Grass never grows on the playground, you're looking very fine. "Course, you're no Fabio, but ah... you look just fine.
Billy: I have two names though.
Kathie-Lee: And I could be your mother so let's just drop it at that.
Regis: Or the aunt that never left home. So what's the weirdest thing people have asked you to autograph?
Billy: Well, pretty much everything from casts, you know arms casts, to breasts, to um, you name it, cars...
Regis: No YOU name it!
Billy: If you can think of it, I've been asked to sign it.
Regis: Really?
Kathie-Lee: Have you ever drawn the line and said "I don't do that I'm all about music"?
Regis: Billy, the Grammies are coming up, you've been nominated for seven more Grammy awards, congratulations.
Kathie-Lee: Does it bore you, being nominated being nominated by so many... ?
Billy: No, no, not at all. I mean we came from underground music. We never thought we would be accepted into the mainstream. And to be recognised by something like the Grammies, it would never happen. So to us it's all icing on the cake.
Kathie-Lee: You hear so much about that, the underground, sort of the alternative music people, then becoming accepted by mainstream and then you start getting all kinds of criticism basically, for becoming commercial and selling out.
Billy: Well, I think a lot of that's based in jealousy and a lot of it is based in people not really understanding. We come from Chicago which is kind of a working-class city and we've never viewed music as a you're in and you're out. It's just the same type of thing that you talk about with the show. It never really bothers me who likes my music, as long as someone likes it.
Kathie-Lee: You're just so normal. That'll be really bad for your image...
Billy: It's very early...

Regis: Music videos are so important now, do you have a hand in what is depicted onscreen when they make a video version of your album?
Billy: Originally we just thought you'd pay someone and bunch of money and they'd do it for you, and then we realised that none of those people really knew what they were doing. So then we found people we could work with who'd work in conjunction with us.
Kathie-Lee: And let it be your vision.
Billy: Yeah, it surprising that the more of ourselves we put in the videos, the more popular those videos have become, so we just try harder.
Regis: As with albums. Now what about Grammy night? What are you going to wear?
Billy: I dunno, I'm not real good with clothes.
Regis: Like to borrow this suit? Four buttons, Billy, four buttons baby, count 'em.
Kathie-Lee (looking at Billy's pants): Billy, you wear them a little short. Is there a reason for that?
Billy: Um, I can't find any that fit really. I am 6' 3", most people think I'm kinda small...
Kathie-Lee: 6' 3"? Big boy...
Regis: So Billy, you're a fan, you watch the show a lot. Have we influenced your music at all? When do you write, in the morning?
Billy: See, I usually write songs in the morning. I get up about eight or nine'o'clock...
Regis: Exactly when we're on!
Kathie-Lee: That's pretty early for a rock star.
Regis: Now Billy, you can't tell me that we didn't influence some of these songs.
Billy: You have an indirect influence on this album.
Regis: What song in particular have Regis and Kathie-Lee influenced subliminally?
Billy: I would say that song they we just showing, Thirty-Three probably.
Kathie-Lee: My age!
Regis: And you just get up and these thoughts come to you and you put them down?
Billy: I find that I'm much more of a clear-headed person in the morning, and as the day goes on and the phone calls come in and people bug me, or whatever, I can't concentrate the same.
Regis: Your mind is pure.
Billy: Right, so a lot of time I'd get up in the morning and put on your show and it just kind of relaxes and I would write...
Kathie-Lee: Call our attorney... You know what? You've been a major, major influence on me too Billy, and I'd just like you to have my Sentimental album and my Dreamship album, enjoy. Four copies sold worldwide! Four!
