Cherin's Graduation Poem'96
Dear Cherin:
The years have sped by, but it seems like only yesterday you were placed in our arms. You were so small and fragile, making us wary and afraid to hold you.
We have watched you over the years, scraping your knees, making new friends and learning from failures and successes along the way. All the things that have made you the person you are today. Many times we have wanted to scold you for your independent ways, while in our hearts we knew you were only spreading your wings. We will never regret a moment of our lives together and would do it all over again.
We are sure there are times when you wondered if your dreams would come true. Sometimes we may have pushed too hard, but we only wanted what was best for you, which you so dearly deserved. In our hearts, we knew you would make it. Without your education you are left with nothing to move ahead in this life. You must always follow your dreams to the limit.
This person we see before us is admired by her peers, loved by her family, and ready to face whatever the world throws her way. You have matured and accepted life with dignity. There is no way to measure the love that fills our hearts and swells in our eyes for you, as we see you standing there in your gown, with your diploma in hand. Prouder parents you could not find. We will cherish this moment as long as we live.
There are some loved ones who will not be here today, but rest assured if they were, they would say how proud you have made them. The warm feeling penetrating your body, are their arms embracing you gently, placing you on life's highest pedestal. Today their dream for you is fulfilled to their greatest expectations, and we know that your heart will always carry their love and memory, as you embark on a new stage of your life.
There cannot be for us a greater gift than you. We are richer for having had you come into our life. Our love for you knows no boundaries. No better child has parents ever had. Today walk proudly with your head held high, knowing in your heart you have done your best. Receive our love and heartfelt congratulations with the spirit of admiration.
Today we will also walk with our heads held high, thanking our Lord for his guidance and you.
