Some news on the new Drummer from Walter:
I haven't spoken to him yet. It has only been the last week where it was really definite because he had some committments to these other bands- so actually it is definite--but not official-- if that makes sense-- legally.

Rusty posted this to the board on 2/1:
Thanks For Not Killing Me Thanks to everybody who came out to the show and didn't heave beer cups and abuse my way. Jack is a hard act to follow, a true original. I tried to do his parts justice and I hope it measures up. The new stuff was reworked before I joined, has been reworked since the new year when I joined(is it possible to overrehearse in less than a month?), and most probably will undergo some changes either lyrically or musically in the future. If you hear something you like, don't hesitate to tell us. I know you won't hesitate if it sucks.... If you listen to Andy Lord tell it, he cut his hair either because he was tired of it or because I also have them.I put forth the idea that, when we play out of town, he and I should go out and play some half-assed reegae jam while singing in bad Jamacian accents just to fuck with people's heads. He wisely wasn't into it. One more thing: why the fuck are you guys dicussing Creed on the Subrosa Page? I have nothing against them, and their road tech Andy carried my ass at the show on Friday(come back Andy, they can't love you like I can!), But they should have one hell of a mack-daddy website considering the mad money they're making.

On 12/18 Mike posted this to the BB:

no lambasting please...
it's not torrey's fault...it was mine for giving such lame responses to the questions, legitimate questions, i just get cynical about the questions about ourselves sometimes...why such interest in divulsions? is it the wonder with the nature of celebritydom? is it wonder with the nature of gossip? i know it is not these, it is more of the wonder with what goes on behind the creation of music...our next move is not important...we have very little strategem beyond concentrating our effort into songwriting as a band and performing those songs as effortlessly and natural and completely as possible. What frustrates most of us right now is the slag time...this feeling that we are in a very obscure area right now...a new drummer-Rusty from whoreculture who is an incrredible fit-, many new ideas and directions being contributed from everyone and of course label-less and tied down with income-generating labor from 7-5 every day and a new miniature human-being(the baby) in Andy's life. Actually, all of this is very exciting and inspiring in a chaotic sort of way...we have a feeling of metamorphisis(see Franz Kafka: The Metamophisis). My nominations for covers are: Boris The Spider-The Who, and Walter?- The Kinks. I want to thank all here who read these pages for the support and for somehow getting what goes on in the music. Happy Ramadan

Subrosa has finished their demo and are currentally seeking a new lable. This was posted to the BB by the bands manager Walter:

Harvest Fest
the guys in Subrosa wanted me to post something about the fact that many fans paid alot of $$ to see them play only to find out that their set was cut in half by GAMA. If you were one of those people , please E-mail me at H19@aol.com and I'll make sure you ge on the free list for the next show. The band appreciates everyone's support but there no touring plans at this time. The guys are working on new songs and a new demo tape-hopefully good things will start happening for them again in January. thanks alot. Walt

Mike and his girlfriend were spotted streaking across the stage at the recent harvest festival. Rumor says it was to protest the Sister Hazels set changes that caused Subrosa to be left with a 4 song long performance

Mike posted this to the BB on 10/09/1998:
nudies and refunds
sitting here reading the posts of the posts, i understand you were all pissed for being dissed at the show...sorry we only got to four of our songs...about $8.50 per song, we ripped you off. But you must understand that it was the fault of the Hazels and the Gamas so if any of you would like compensation please save your ticket stub and bring it to the next show wherever we play and you may be our guests...I know this doesn't make up for twenty dollars but it is some kind of gratitude for sticking it out with us...speaking of sticking it out, the dequamated two during hazel's hit will remain unamed, but they were both there, exfolited not on their own volition, but because we had already been stripped by gama and gang during our own set. don't expect to hear about this in any press, and don't expect us to play harvest again... thanks to all of you for everything...yours in the buff - mike

Andy now has a daughter named Emily, she was born around mid July.

Subrosa has aquired the rights to N.B.T.D.Y.H.

So you play music for squirrels? Here are some interesting links to other non band related squirrel sites:

The Squirrel Page
This page is an information site about these rodents, it actually blames
music goups as one of the reasons why it is hard to find information on squirrels

Squirrel in Black
If they ever made an X-Files about squirrels it would be like this

Scary Squirrel World
assorted stories about squirrels

Them Squirrels Gonna Die!!!!
Little girls can be so funny, although they use way too many !'s and ?'s

The Secret Squirrel plot to take over the world
The name says it all

"Buzzard" is used in the background for a Miami Planetarium commercial, however the song is not featured in any of the shows

Mike and Andy have both started writing and singing songs for the band

Somone calling themselfs Subrosa posted this to the B.B.S. on 5/12:

"SONY-EATING THE CAKE TOO"
"If you're in a band signed by a label and then dropped because of the LABEL'S own laziness, it seems almost illegal to not have the rights to your oen songs. If Nick Launay hasn't screamed at Sony for this, he should be to blame too, the guy helped produce the album. This is one more testament to the fact that Sony is a lazy-ass label, picking up the bands they feel will be a flash in the pan. A very bright flash mind you, but a 'sparkle and fade' nonetheless"

Subroa played Hot Plate 98' on friday 4/17, thier set was acustic, and consisted of 6 songs most of them were new. Here is a copy of the press release

A CD copy of Baypath Road was sold on 4/3 for 137.50 on Ebay.com

Well it's official Subrosa has been droped by Sony. Rumor has it that the band will be taking some time off to write some new songs. Here is what Andy posted to the BBS sometime in March:
"Hello everybody. We are not touring with Pearl Jam. My Birthday is the 16 of July. I'll be 25 and a daddy on the 8th. My fiance Kim and I are expecting a baby girl. We are playing on the 24 of April at the Dish. We appreciate all of the hate mail Sony is recieving; they have given up on us. I need a job, preferably one that requires minimal effort and skills. As far as the band goes, we will never quit, we will always write and record new songs. I have hemeroids that are bloody and itchy"

Anyone who has ANY newsworthy information please email me.
